I love old buildings so this historic village did not disappoint! Since it's mid-October all the buildings were closed. Still, I am glad I came. I will definitely be back to get the full experience whenever I am back in Michigan in the warmer months, not just to see the inside of the buildings but to experience the rest of the park as well.
Absolutely beautiful historical park with a beach and boat launch. They have pavilions for use and can be reserved as well as playgrounds for your young ones! Plenty of trails with beautiful views and history. There are event lists that can be found for the year on their website or in person during weekdays at the historic village.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
We Spent the weekend here for tha annual Michigan Longbow Association event. Lots of room to setup and visit with friends. Most attractions were closed this weekend, but the park itself is well kept and clean. Nice boat launch with access to lake Thornapple. Steam powered saw mill is a jewel, I'll definitely come visit when it's running.

What a fantastic field trip with my class. Students and parents absolutely loved this trip! We will definitely be back!
We used the church chapel for our wedding. The setting is beautiful and the exterior of the church is very cute, with a bell tower. It's really a great place for photography. The inside of the church is not air conditioned though so we were hot. The staff was great and easy to work with, communication was quick and booking the church was very fairly priced.
I've been going to Charleton Park since I was a baby, and that's over half a century ago. Needless to say this park and Thornapple Lake and River mean a lot to me. Through out many years the park has added onto their historic village, and it's a wonderful family friendly educational and recreational gem. There are many things to see and do all summer, and a modest swimming area to cool off. Picnic tables and grills galore so bring your picnic basket! Drive along the slowly winding trail back to the huge picnic area at the far end of the park and there will be plenty of room to relax and enjoy.

Neat place! A hidden little gem of historic buildings, nestled in a beautiful nature filled setting. We'll definitely be back when the doors re-open.
It was fantastic. The people were wonderful. The staff was very courteous and prompt. And did a great job keeping the place spotless. I would highly recommend going there again. Can't wait till I go next year.
