The campground was clean and maintained. There are a lot of seasonal sites. The staff was amazing and answered all our questions with a smile. We stayed close to the office on the front circle and it was great. Site was level and shaded. The map does not indicate the large hills to get the the back of the campground where the playground was so we didn't visit that area. The playground could use a little maintenance. We ended up kayaking one day and the river was amazing. Lots of deer flies, so bring your bug spray. We did not go into the pool, but it did close early. The shower house was okay, could use a good deep cleaning. There is no fenced in dog run so we walked up to the road and use the parking area for bathroom.
Overall the experience was wonderful! We camped riverside right across from the park, which was nice because we were able to watch our kids play from the campsite. The staff was mostly kind and helpful. Showers are clean and well maintained, but keep in mind they’re campground showers. We only used the bathrooms and showers at the main building, so I don’t know the condition of the others. Pool was clean and well kept, but quite cold. Not what I expected for an indoor pool. The pond definitely isn’t something I’d feel comfortable with the kids swimming in, but they had a great time hunting for frogs. The campsite could have been graded and had stumps and sticks removed, as it’s not great for tent camping, but it’s not the worst. All in all, we had a very pleasant experience. There was a guest who had two dogs that barked incessantly, starting at about 7a.m. And well into the late hours of the evening. I didn’t contact the office though, so I’m not sure how they would have handled it. The kids really enjoyed the stay! We had children of all ages from 2 to 14 and there was plenty for all of them to do. If you’re going tubing and renting tubes, keep in mind that even if you ask the brunette not sure of her name, but I do know she’s the owners daughter for tubes with a bottom for your young child, she will tell you they don’t have them. I can’t speak for how the other employees will handle it, but the older man and his daughter definitely don’t seem eager to accommodate their customers. Their cooler tubes are standard inner tubes that have a bottom, so rent one of those if you have a little one coming along. I was told they simply don’t recommend bringing a small child on the tubing trip, which was silly because the current is almost non existent and my 2 1/2 year old had a great time! The trip lasted about an hour and a half with no stopping and was overall a great experience for the children and adults. If it were an adults only trip, I’d say it went too quickly, but the timing is perfect if you are bringing littles. We definitely plan to return annually!
I've stayed here a couple years now. The place is nice, they work with you. It's clean. Neighbors are pretty respectful. There's some people who stay year round and some who only come a day. It's a great place to be. Has a very wide river connected, not just a creek like I've seen some places. They have canoes, and tubing. They keep the place up. I also have pets and I'm so happy to say, this place is flea free. It has a little pond, washer and dryer, playground, showers and potties, cabins to stay in. It has a little general store, propane on site. The family is a great bunch of people. It also has an indoor poor and free wifi. Thank you guys for providing me a safe place to stay with an affordable budget.
Not impressed. Dont like that they have Gates they lock at night, lots are small. the full timers lots look upkeep and dingy. Each camp site has to pay 2$ fee. To use the pool, you get it back but really! Think someones going to walk off with the pool. Will not be back. I will say or was quiet. The only friendly staffer we meet was the check in lady. Other staffers not very friendly.
Staff was marginally friendly. Other campers were not at all friendly. Seasonal campers were packed in tightly. Some lots were very cluttered and several trailers were extremely dirty. The Wi-Fi functioned intermittently - three words, then nothing for a minute -!three more words, then nothing for five minutes… we were merely 100 feet from the office and there few campers in September.
We are staying here for the summer and really like it. The sites are really good sized. We have a 34ft camper and still have room to park, have a fire, and let the dogs out. The owner is also very responsive to noise complaints at night, but mostly everything is quiet by 11pm, even on the weekends. The only problem we've had is that the indoor heated pool closes way to early, and their reservation system is seriously lacking. We pay by the month and haven't been able to stay in 1 site for more than 10 days. They have us moving all over all the time, but yet the full hookup site we wanted has sat empty
So peaceful, a nice place to get out of the city and relax on a river. They need to make some upgrades and fixes at the sites like new fire pits and filling in the canoe/kayak launch from some runoff this spring, but overall a pleasant place to spend with friends and family. My son and I love kayaking on the river and enjoying at the campsites.
We took a trip from Ohio to Michigan so we could kayak on a different river. The staff at this campground from check in to transporting us and our two poodles was so smooth and easy. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back and launch from your place. Two poodles.
Not a good place if you have a large camper, especially fifth wheels. The map does not reflect the large hills here, not ideal for small children in strollers, wagons, or on bikes. Young girl who checked us in was super kind and helpful! The bathrooms were very outdated and dirty, could use some serious TLC. Very disappointing that the pool was indoors. The 'sandy beach' is just a small dirty pond. The river is quiet and doesn't smell like death like the Grand River so that was a nice view. Pit toilets on the hand; putrid. Lots of seasonal lots that are kept in basic disrepair. Campers and sites should at the bare minimum be cleaned up. Not sure of the smoking policy here but definitely did not love all the marijuana my baby inhaled this weekend. Bees EVERYWHERE. As well as a plethora of other bugs. Bring your bug spray, and bring lots of it. I would definitely recommend this campground spray in the future. Random house in the middle of the campground seemed a bit strange... lots of stray cats which was a bit gross. By lots I mean upwards of 25. Golf cart guys were obnoxious while people were backing in trailers at the bottom of the hill "you can't park there sir" I heard almost 20 times in 10 minutes while 2 different trailers and trucks were parking and moving trucks so the other guy could back into his spot. Good grief go away and let them park!
We stayed in a "Deluxe" site at the front of the park. People in next site kept walking through our site to go to the store. Right up next to the rear of our camper. They were able to look right into our windows. I asked them three times to stop walking through our site before getting the campground involved. Don't know if the campground did anything about it. Since we were set up at the front of campground I drove further back through the campground to check it out. The sites are quite small and the roads are narrow because people are forced to parallel park in front of the campers. I wouldn't want to pull my 37' TT through there. The man I assume is the owner seems like he's annoyed by people. The miniature golf course, which is tiny and encompasses maybe 2000 square feet, is pay to play. Everything here has a fee attached to it. My parents visited us for breakfast and we had to pay $8 for them to park at our site. They could've parked at the entrance of the park and walked ¼ mile to my site for $2 but my dad is older and cannot walk that far. Plus he's on oxygen. The staff didn't seem to care when I told them that. $8 to park at our site! $8 because it's a holiday weekend. The fee changes based on day of the week. I get charging for visitors, but I was quite irritated that they expected my handicapped dad to walk back to my site from their visitor "parking lot". I always try to post both good and bad in my reviews. So hereare some good things. They have a big playground for kids. Lots of activities planned. The campground is maintained. Unfortunately I'm not overly happy here. I may return one more time, and see if my opinion changes. If I do and my opinion changes, I'll update my review. For now, 3 stars.
