This is a great campground that needs just a little bit of love and it looks like they're doing just that lots of new fire pits are waiting to be put in place. The bathhouses are nice and clean. Yes the water is hot. The water seemed a bit high this year at gun lake. This is late fall and we picked the weekend that was very cold to my wife It was chilly to me I think we all know what that's like. We've been here before not all of the sites are level some are way out of shape mainly by the first bath House other than that it's a great place to go camping very quiet. Not a lot to do around the campground mainly just food and drink. If you like fishing it's a great place to go I never have any luck here. I don't have a boat and I think that helps out a lot. I was talking to a guy who was on his pontoon boat who had caught five walleye on a miserable day. In the rest of the Yankee springs recreational area there are endless foot trails and horseback riding trails. At one time they used to have and they still may have horseback camping and also hike in camping on foot that was 4 years ago your best bet is to go online and read everything you can do. And if that's not what you like there's always gambling at the casino and the food is pretty good there. Our site was 54 right on the water. So get out there and have fun! Dog-friendliness: It's really no different than most Michigan State campgrounds that allow dogs They have to be on a 6-ft leash well behaved and quiet most of the time whose dog is ever quiet most of the time not mine.
The trails are not well marked or maintained. But the campsite was great and there is a lot of beauty to be found. The beach was nice but I don't think I'd return to this particular campground.
I have been hiking and MTB trail riding here for a couple of years last weekend 6/17/22 -6/19/22 was my first time tent camping here what a blast I hiked the devil's soup bowl and bike the MTB trails several times it's a very clean and quiet campground it was very relaxing.Playground: YesPublic restrooms: YesOff-leash dog area: NoPicnic tables: YesBarbecue grills: No
Stayed at the Chickadee with my sister. Been to Fort Custer's cabins a number of times. This by far is the best! I did, unfortunately lose my camping knife. It's a Moraknil. If found please take to headquarters and ask them to notify me. Thank you! Get outside and get happy!
Always loved this place. So sandy and shallow. Beautiful lake.
Stayed here for a weekend of tent camping and had an amazing time! It was clean with nice bathrooms and shower rooms. There was a beach in the back of the campsite that is only open for camper’s, and it was such a nice place to hang out during the day! The water was fairly shallow which made it nice to sit in the water with a drink in hand and just relax. Would love to stay here again!
For the most part we enjoyed our stay. Park staff can do a better job enforcing quiet hours people yelling and partying at 1:30 a.m.. We loved the ease of access to restrooms and the designated paths to them. I would recommend they place reflectors at the end of restroom paths to make them easier to find in the dark.
My favorite place to hike in Middleville around the gun lake area. Well groomed trails. Not busy majority of the time. Everyone has been very friendly. No bathrooms.
We had a great winter camping over night at Deep Lake
Had a great time with my friends and church group. The staffs were very helpful and understanding. But the bathroom can be definitely improve. Never seen such one exist in first world country.
