Hideout Brewing Co

About

In the taproom, there is a selection of 24 taps directly behind the J shaped bar, with extra seating in our loft area, and beer garden out back.

Story

Originally opened in early 2005, the company was named for both the location and for the feel of pre-prohibition era local brewery. Taken over in early 2012 by new owners Scott Colson and Nick and Theresa Humphrey, the Hideout’s footprint has grown quite extensively. Now distributing to most of Michigan, we are adding new regions regularly.

In the taproom, the selection of 24 taps behind the J shaped bar. The upper loft has darts, and seven big screen TVs with various retro gaming systems. Behind the building you will find a Beer Garden including horseshoe pits, a disc golf basket, and ample seating.

Menu beers available year round are Aviator Pale Ale, Hired Gun Red, Gangster IPA, and Cement Shoe Stout. Other offerings vary throughout the year including Wine, Seasonal and Specialty Beers, Hard Cider, and Mead.

Used a Groupon that I bought for $20, which included a 5 beer flight, 2 full 12 oz glasses of beer and a 64 oz take home growler of our choice. The deal was the best part of the experience, as I never would have paid full price for that. Beer was pretty watery, though I liked the Fruit Wheat Ale (tons of flavor). There wasn’t much for a friendly or welcoming vibe. Our food was decent, though I had to go down a hallway to get my own water from a dispenser because apparently that’s something they can’t provide at the bar? After being to Perrin, Founders, New Holland, etc, this was just grungy looking and disappointing.

Like most have said, this place is supper sketchy and a bit hard to find. The beer isn't anything to write home about. Most of it is watery and bland, how ever I did enjoy the Fruit Wheat Ale. They do have a small list of food, mostly panni and gyro but there are far better places in Grand Rapids to get those if that's what your looking for.

Went here because we had a groupon for two beers, two paninis and two sides. The paninis were cold in the middle and probably one of the grossest things I’ve eaten. My stomach hurt for two days after eating/drinking here. I only drank half my beer because it was also gross. Staff was rude and hardly acknowledged us as they were too busy sitting at the bar swearing and gossiping. Would never go back or recommend.

Small place with quiet space for drinks. Was not really impressed with my time spent there.

Would have given 5 stars last year but they stopped letting outside food in, but all they offer to eat is paninis, and the beer isn't great anymore. They have game consoles but are missing games they used to have. Saving grace is that it's a chill place and they make a great root beer.
