This place is super hidden away but it's such a gem. So much value in everything they have! Affordable and good quality. Found everything that I had super delicious. A friend brought me here and I was skeptical because it was so out of the way and it was in like an apartment building. But I was pleasantly surprised that this place was so good!
Easy to order online and pick up/pay at the restaurant. Hadn't been here in years, and I know they were always busy when dine in was open. So happy to see the quality is still on par, simple and delicious comfort food. I had the Oyako Don, the chicken was plentiful and so juicy. Family had the Seafood Platter good variety of seafood and nice tartar sauce, wondering if it's made in house? and Pork Katsu Curry. Would love to go back for some of their other items!
An absolutely great discovery -for us-. This unpretentious restaurant is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have been in Vancouver. The menu is simple, not complicated or full of fancy lingo. It has a great variety of dishes all at very good prices. The food is nothing but excellent. Service is fast but not on your face. The servings are quite large so be careful of what you order. One main dish will have you done for the day. Their appetizers are great, fantastic quality and taste. We even dared to ask for dessert.. which was fantastic and tasty... and huge! What a great place to spend lunch or dinner time with family and friends. There is no doubt we will come back.. soon!
Wanna eat comfy food like at your grandmas? Look no further, this is the one. This Japanese restaurant is located inside a senior rest home, where you can eat in the same environment of the residents. Seems like a great interaction, once you can try amazing and tasty real Japanese food, made by Japanese. I had salmon and it was awesome, good portion and well distributed. Free parking at the subterranean parking.
Hands Down the Best Authentic Japanese Homemade food... especially Chicken Karaage Don in town!! This is basically a cafeteria for Nikkei Senior Home! So please respect their covid protocol strictly whether its takeout/curbside pickup or future dine-in option. Ive been visiting this place since 2008 and kept going back for 1 specific item.. Chicken Karaage Don!! They also have the spicier version It's literally the perfect chicken karaage! Perfect Batter, very crispy, moist, juicy BUT not oily.. which is pretty darn impressive!! Generous portion! Plus the price point is super affordable too!! which is +++ in my book! Everything else on their menu are also delicious as they make everything super fresh!! NOTE: Photo taken pre-covid
I could not say enough great things about this restaurant. It is located at the Nikkei Cultural Centre and senior home. But don't let that confuse you for a normal eatery, because it is so much more. Their service is always friendly even when things get hectic and lineups become big. I've not ever seen them look irritated at any impatient guests either, which I have so much respect for. Their popular ones are their sweet and spicy karaage bento which is super moist and tasty fried chicken pieces served on rice with a side of miso soup. The other dish, Is their large curry cutlet dish and by large I mean large enough to share. I highly recommend these dishes to start and I can assure you that you will order to go too, yes its that good! Ambiance is also quiet enough to carry a conversation, which is a nice change compared to most Japanese restaurants here in Burnaby.
Very satisfying. Ordered the curry and friedpork, the portion was huge and I was very full afterwards. My partner ordered the grilled salmon, it was good, but could be less salty. Octopus balls are good but small portion. Excellent service.
One of my favourite place to feed my cravings. So glad they do takeout and online payments now. And man, I’m glad they take Amex. I ordered spicy karage don this time and it did not disappoint. Crunchy, juicy and fragrant can all be used in this dish. Highly recommend everyone to order online and try this place.
One of my favorite restaurants in the lower mainland. Definitely a hidden gem that is located inside a retirement home. It's quite small and there's usually a wait but it is well worth it! The portions are generous and the food is delicious. Just need to be aware that they are only open during certain times of the day so be sure to check that before visiting. Can't say enough good things about this place!
Peaceful, quiet spot to come for some of the best spicy karage don around. I've been coming for years and have never been disappointed. The curry is also quite popular. The price is a little steep 25$ for two don after tax and tip, but the quality matches the price. Also, contrary to google, it does not require a reservation to eat here.
