I wasn't intending on reviewing this place, but as soon as I dug into this lamb I just knew I had to. My wife had made reservations ahead of time as we were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary. I figured I would indulge myself and get the lamb chops. This lamb was so delicate and tasty. Whatever they were crusted in was delightful. I didn't grab a picture before i started eating, but once I realized I wanted to review the place I gathered what was left. This was enough to get a 5 star review from me. Then desert came we opted for the Tres Leches. The staff was so nice to use since the moment we walked in congratulating us. Then they wrote this in chocolate on our desert. Really superb. I will hands down visit this place whenever I am back in town.
I live in Miami most of the year so when my wife told me we were going to a Cuban restaurant in Bar Harbor, Maine I honestly thought she was joking. But my wife doesn’t kid around…not when it comes to food. Havana is the nicest, finest restaurant in this lovely harbor town. The paella and farm salad are to die for. Really.
Everything was incredible, from food to the service and atmosphere. We came for our anniversary and the host made sure to congratulate us, there was a card on the table, and they brought us a complimentary truffle/fruit dessert. Service was great, lamb chops and lobster moqueca were amazing, wine was fantastic. We couldn’t stop staring at the paella at other tables. Don’t second guess, just go!
We were sat in the wine cellar room which was really cozy! We had exceptional service, and it was such a warm environment. We received this restaurant as a personal recommendation, and it did not disappoint. While pricey, it was so delicious and with heavy servings. Food was super high quality. The lobster paella and lobster moqueca were fabulous as were the oysters! We even had leftovers to take home. Would love to return again!
The food is top notch. Can’t go wrong. Parking tough of course. Probably will get seated 14-30 mins after your reservation, have to be patient. No reservations side of restaurant available with full bar. A little pricey but it’s a resort town.
BEST seafood Paella EVER and lobster moqueca!!! It was SO good we went there twice during our trip to Bar Harbor! I don’t write many reviews but this place is so special! Owner was so gracious and a true professional! We are dairy free and both dishes are dairy free! They had many other options to choose from but they are known for the Paella, for good reason! They had live music in the bar area Friday and Saturday night. Charming place with amazing service! When we come back to bar Harbor we will definitely be back! They take reservations and it can be tough to get into, be sure to make a reservation or if you get lucky like we did you may find a seat at the bar! Dietary restrictions: Dairy
The team at Havana have curated an incredible evening dinner experience. We made our reservation a few weeks in advance, and we are very glad we did. We included that we were celebrating our honeymoon in the online booking, and the hostess knew that and congratulated us upon checking in! Also, the group behind us did not have a reservation and were told that they might be able to come back and be seated at 8:30pm. Our table was in a lovely front corner of the restaurant, and they included a card from the whole staff congratulating us on our honeymoon!!! The initial treat and bread brought to us were so lovely. The apricot treat was a nice touch, and the bread plate and accompanying spreads was delicious. We wanted the recipe for the black bean spread and the spicy chili oil and butter were also incredible. The wine book is unparalleled - we were clearly over our heads in the 70+ pages but also with the combination of entrees we wanted to order. The sommelier heard our request for red but pairing with the seafood and lamb chops and recommended 2 specific bottles. We picked one of his recommendations and it was truly perfect for the soups and 2 entrees. While we enjoyed the seafood chowder, we can’t say enough amazing things about the curried pumpkin soup! We know we’ll never achieve its greatness, but we want to try to make it ourselves. It was creamy and delicious and had just the perfect blend of spices. On to the entrees - both were the perfect portions - we even took some in a to-go container. The seafood paella had so much seafood of so many varieties as well as the chorizo! One of the best paellas we’ve ever had. And the lamb was buttery and almost melted in our mouths. Cooked to perfect and we took the chef’s recommendation of medium rare. Dessert - the blueberry bread pudding was utter perfection. We took the pumpkin flan back with us to our B&B. We can’t say enough about the friendliness of the entire staff team and the amazing food and experience the provide. If you’re in Bar Harbor, it’s a must go to. We will be back someday!
We got oysters, solomillo, seafood paella, halibut and blueberry lime cheesecake. The blueberry cornbread with agave butter that they offered in their bread basket might have been my favorite!Recommended dishesSeafood Paella
We enjoyed delicious meals at this surprising spot in Bar Harbor. The service was exceptional and the food was even better. We enjoyed paella and a stuffed poblano pepper dish. The poblano dish was vegan but I requested real cheese. All so good!
We made a reservation for our party of 7 about 10 days prior. There was some confusion with the gal I talked to on the phone but a gentleman returned my call and was super accommodating. We knew that with a busy town it would be easier than walking in. I found Havana from reviews of the Balanced Rock Inn that is highly sought after. We had a 445pm reservation, earlier than we normally would typically select but great to avoid the crowds. Keegan our waitress was funny, quirky and very attentive. She was delight. Just what you hope for when spending $$ for a nice dinner. The drinks were fabulous! The Pisco Sour and Mojito were some of the bests ever. Very light and not overly sweet like some make. My husband said it was his best mojito ever! Oysters while expensive were yummy. Two of us had the paella and it was superb, brimming with lobster, mussels, shrimp. My husbands halibut was great also. The provolone bread appetizer with fresh chimchurri was good and something had never tried or seen on a menu. While we knew ahead of time it would have been nice to have a few items for kids on the menu. Or to be able to order a kid size serving. We elected to bring them anyway but would have made nice. They tasted the yummy breads, had some salad and tasted the fish. I imagine this is to cut down on lots of young kids coming but worked out ok for us.
