Hammonasset Beach has a variety of things to do! 3 different sections of the beach to choose from so it's a little spread out! Not to mention they are redoing all of the areas! Bird watching is amazing as well as any other wildlife seen there! A conservation center is always a plus to add to a beach day to learn about some of the wildlife living in the area, as well as getting up close and personal with a touch tank with a variety of different species of animal! Definitely worth a day trip!

A pleasant place. Easy to get to, with nice facilities. The bathrooms are locked when the beach houses are closed, and the only trash cans are the big dumpsters near the parking lots.

My favourite destination. Great new nature center. Bit of a bird watcher too.

Hammonasset Beach State Park speaks for itself. If your one for the beach and live in Connecticut, it is especially my top choice for camping. The workers and visitors are friendly and helpful. With such a high volume of visitors this past summer, I was especially impressed with the cleanliness of the facility's upkeep. They have a camp store as well if you need refreshments, ice, rental of portable fire pits, and carry a variety of necessities if you forget or run out of something. I also love Meig's Point. A wonderful attraction for anyone young or old with different programs throughout the summer. Speaking of programs, they have movie nights and even offer yoga classes! (Please come back soon as I will have photos to upload). After reading other reviews I feel it's important to say that this year alone I've camped here a total of at least 5 times and not all of the time can the workers here pick up after unfortunate uncaring, certain few irresponsible people and that when the workers including visitors that love this place see the litter etc, it breaks our hearts!

Camped here 2016 Labor Day weekend. I was excited because the reviews tout beautiful beaches and a well-kept campground. We got to our campsite and I was devastated. Our tent site was basically an extension of the bathroom lawn. There wasn't a single tree on our spot. People walking to the bathroom cut through our site. Sitting down to eat people are literally walking about 5 feet around our table. I go to camp to get away. I don't want to have to interact with strangers traipsing through our site every few minutes. We were surrounded by RV's on all sides. Very little privacy. The only reason I could figure this was not an RV site was that it was not flat enough. During the day, I didn't feel comfortable leaving our site. I felt like I had to guard our stuff. No fires, except in a metal container. When I did get to the beach it was entirely unimpressive. It's fair to say it is the worst site I have ever stayed on.
