Lots of construction going on in Montreal. The drivers handled it well. Some drivers/tour guides were better than others. One guy we had was very entertaining but seemed to miss many historical spots. Another we had was pretty boring and grumpy but pointed out all the history.
I booked the 3.5 hour tour for the Heart of Montreal. There were issues with communication within the company as well as customers. I initially booked the tour on Sunday, just to find out that the tour has been canceled without any notice. I contacted the company and they told us they tried to call and left a message but I did not receive anything. Fortunately, they were able to move the tour to the next day at the same time. However, I check on the booking information that the date has not changed. On the day of the pickup, my family members 7 waited by the pickup spot there were options for pickup at certain locations at 12:00pm, although they were going to come at 12:20pm. I contacted the company a few times just to make sure everything was okay and that the bus was on the way. The person on the other end of the line kept reassuring that the bus was coming. They would not provide the information of the tour guide or driver to contact. They came at 1:30pm, but with a regular car for pickup, which meant we weren't registered for the pickup of the tour bus. It seemed as if they forgot to confirm the change of the dates and the tour staff were not provided with the information. My family members still happily joined as they were excited explore Montreal. I was not happy at the fact that they were an hour late, I do not blame the staff, more of the company and the communication just for my family to seem like they were the one to blame because they arrived with the rest our the tour late. I hope no one has to go through this again with their family.
Robert Costa was an especially entertaining guide and kept us both informed and in stitches at the same time. The tour bus is one of the most convenient ways to get in many of the sights of the city if one is crunched for time or apprehensive about venturing out on their own. The two-day pass allows ample time to hop-on and hop-off at many of the stops, though I would recommend starting on the tour as early as possible in the day, as some of the stops are so interesting you may end up spending several hours at some. Highly recommend, especially for first-time visitors.
This was fun, but it was October and chilly and I should have dressed warmer. It’s worth starting at the head office for the trip to get a good seat on the top of the double decker bus. They will pick you up along the way but you’ll need google maps to see where the bus icons are. The city doesn’t allow them to have marked bus stops. We didn’t choose to get off this time and just enjoyed the tour around the city. Our guide was very good, bring some cash for a tip at the end. Seems most people gave $5. I would do this again in warmer weather and get off at Montreal park. There are trails and beautiful views. Once you get off you know where the pickup spot is which would be every 30 minutes. The stops at notre dame cathedral or the museum would be easy to get to on your own. I believe it was around $60 per person and I thought it was worth the price.
Apart from the long queue before boarding the train, the journey was very comfortable. The train was clean, there were plenty of space for the luggage and the toilets were decent. If you're not in a hurry the 6 hour plus journey from Montreal to Toronto gives you ample time to see the prairie countryside. The only down side is that the train tickets were not cheap.
The employees were pleasant. The tour guide and bus driver was phenomenal.
We went Remembrance Day weekend and took the Montreal Gray Line. The tour guide was knowledgeable, up-to-date, funny and relatable. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, which gave us lots more ideas where to visit in Montreal, that are not the “typical” tourists areas. We would take this tour again on a warmer sunny day for sure!!
Car pick up was late. Tour guide was only okay ish. The tour was 3.5 hours and the guide was on and on about his life, political views and weird personal issues. He also mentioned lots about American facts and tourists. Even thou he was somewhat friendly, I felt he was a little too friendly. Kept making inappropriate comments to me and my mom. For the cost it isn’t really worth it. We sat on the bus for so long for only 5mins at a time at each destination listening to the tour guide and wanting to fall asleep. The only thing great is the driver. He was nice. That’s about it
Booked a 1-day trip to Quebec City and confirmed the pick up at my hotel. No one showed up there were two more people waiting for Gray Line just for a different trip - none of us was picked up, we called - we have been told to wait, we did wait an hour outside and noone showed up. Then they told us in the phone that the buses are already leaving and noone will pick us up and they will send us refund. Great trip
Mousaka was a wonderful guide. He is a geologist with a wonderful grasp of history.
