Nov2024 Arrived from Toronto Union Station by way of the VIA system just before midnight. In comparison to the station in Toronto, Gare Centrale is much aged and functionally challenging. At the main concourse it does not have a central information kiosks for assistance, the lighting is generally dim and the signs are small except for the train status board.nnAlthough they have the more established RESS tunnel system that connects to a number of areas, it is maze like and confusing for the first time visitor and lacks accessibility for disabled people.nnWe also got to visit their VIA Business Lounge which was very small and pretty cramped and basic.nnThe general state of the whole station is outdated in terms of architecture and technology. Hopefully it gets renovated someday.
Not many places are open in the morning on the weekend, which is very weird with a popular destination in Summer Vacation high season!nThe washrooms were disgusting!nYou get shocked that you pay a lot to travel by train but there's not much service to receive.nCold low quality food on board with prices ridiculously high.nDisappointing...
June 2024 5*nnMy first real visit to Montreal Central Station - taking train to Toronto. The station is located in city centre and you can easily take taxi to this place.nnThere are lots of food shops inside and around the station as it is located next to shopping mall. The station is clean and well managed. Staff is nice and happy to help you. Boarding is quite well organized as all gates are on main floor.nnThe place is fully accessible and there are escalators connecting boarding area.
Perfectly good train station, no Grand Central, but neither is it Euston.nnCan’t work out why VIA says to get here so early, probs to just reduce issues although boarding times do seem to be about 20 minutes before the train departs, and maybe there’s some luggage checking if you are going longer distance, we couldn’t work it out; we went from Montreal to Quebec.nnMy partner waited staring into MacDonalds until it opened at 5:40am 10 mins late!
Very organized train station. Take business class if your budget allows you . Long line up before boarding if you don't. Staff was very helpful. I didn't know somw seats are facing the trqin dorections and some are in reverse. Imine was in reverse and i have motion sickness . I had asked one of the staff in my cabin, she was so nice but she needed tp check if anyone has booked the seats im the mext stations that were empty, i was able to move my seats, thanks to her. I felt much better. Make sure to check your seats if you also have motion sickness. There are a few times for snacks and drinks and they offer good lunch choices for a trip from Toronto to Montréal . Highly recommended!!
