The food was really good. However, I’m not entirely sure what they were thinking when designing their seating arrangements. I wouldn’t worry about making a reservation as there are generally a lot of available seats. One thing as a note to the owners, rework your seasonal drink menu. I shouldn’t see eggnog based drinks at the end of February.
Excellent service. Very friendly staff. Lovely ambience. I had the pizza and it was delicious. Thin crust. There were four of us at our table and we all were happy with our food. Prices are reasonable. We will definitely return soon.
I would rate this place 6 stars if I could. The wait staff was super friendly And attentive from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Because the restaurant wasn’t busy we were able to choose our own table. The place has a great ambiance and is nice and quiet. It is a very comfortable restaurant which makes for a great location where you can actually hear your company. I found it was very reasonably priced averaging around 12$ for a plate. I ordered the thai vegan bowl which was delicious and a whiskey sour which had a cinnamon sugar rim and dried cranberries. I can’t wait to come back to try other dishes !
I would have given this review a 4.5 except for the poor service at the end of the meal.... Went on a Monday night for dinner, place was quiet but vibe was good, nice decor, quick service excellent food. Here is the weird part, waiter came by at the end of the meal to clear our dishes and immediately stated " I guess you won't have desert". Which is not true, we would have had more drinks, coffee and maybe desert as we were out to celebrate my wife's dinner. Before we could say anything he came back with the bill. We were there for another hour and would have enjoyed some more drinks and desert but were ignored for the rest of the evening. The restaurant was empty so it was not like they needed the table and it was only 7:30 so they weren't closing. Very odd for a place that seemed like it could do with more business on a Monday night. The other weird thing was that they could not make change for $100 for a bill that came out to around $75. Odd that a restaurant does not have $25 in their float at the cash register.
Great atmosphere, and great food, despite not having everything we wanted due to being crushed opening weekend...food is in high demand! Service-based incredibly courteous and attentive. If Vanessa is your server you are in great hands. Will be coming again very soon.
Been here a couple of times now and each time the food has been delicious. I love the fact their pizzas are thin crust, and their southern chicken sandwich is seasoned perfectly, as well as their kettle chips. Great service all the time, and for a new restaurant they’re doing something right!
I've been here for both lunch and dinner now and have been super happy with the food and service both times. The Applewood Smoked Grilled Cheese and the Alsatian pizza were both to die for, and prices are very reasonable. Also loving the redesign of the restaurant's layout and decor!
Would not return. The space is awkward and lacking. The service was subpar. The waitress could not for the life of her remember who ordered what, despite not being busy. They were out of 2/5 beers we tried to order. No cocktail menu. They weren't even airing the Leafs game - instead they had Animal Planet playing, which is a little strange. My food came out lukewarm. They rectified this by microwaving it and not offering any sort of apology. It was an extremely disappointing Mac 'n Cheese. I added on the Double-Smoked Bacon for $4. It was regular breakfast bacon just thrown on top, a few pieces, certainly not $4 worth. Others at our table had a better experience in terms of food, not great, but not bad, which is why I am giving this a 2/5, not a 1/5. What was really disappointing is after our meal, we noticed another table receiving burgers and tacos, which wasn't on the menu. We asked another server about this and he said it's up to each server what menu to offer. We had all struggled to find something to order on the menu given to us, but likely would have ordered burgers and tacos if given the opportunity. Overall, it was a waste of money and time for me. I definitely will not return. The vibe of the place came across as entitled and unapologetic, which is certainly not deserving given the experience we had.
Mediocre service, mediocre food, no cocktail menu- they really need to step it up if they want to stay open in this historically underperforming location. We went on a Saturday and it was dead, most of the staff were standing around eating in full view of the dining room. Felt like no one wanted to be there, and by the end of the night, neither did we.
I loved the space at Grain, it is unlike anything I have seen before. I especially appreciated the fact that they had a number of good Vegan, Vegetarian & Gluten-free options, as this is often a struggle for people like myself, who require a strict Gluten-free diet. The server was very friendly and I will for sure be coming back!
