GoodLife Fitness Centres

I was really surprised to see negative reviews for this GoodLife location, which is a women's only location. The staff have always been very courteous and are readily available to answer questions. Facilities are always clean, and all the basic gym equipment is there including a weight lifting bar rack (not sure what another reviewer was on about as the rack is right in the middle of the space and is highly visible).

New to the area, in the process of getting a membership in Stittsville but I thought it'd be good to go to the gym right after work. Went into the Vanier gym twice with poor customer service with no compensation even with the business card and contact information from the staff in Stittsville that allow me to workout.

This is by far the most horrible goodlife i have ever been to. I went there to work out with the free weights and found out this club doesn't have a weight lifting bar rack like all of the normal good life clubs do. I tried asking 3 staff members if they knew where the rack was, all three of them had no idea what on earth a weight lifting bar was. Finally when i had to google it for them, they suggested i should use the silly stackable/buildable bars they had. personally, i hate those things because they aren't heavy enough and the weights i add on the ends are never snug. Plus, they are not heavy enough for me. Instead, one of the staff members suggested I do deadlifts and chest presses with the free dumbbell weights. Honestly, after 20 min of trying to explain to 3 staff members what a weighted bar was, i left. never going there again.

I personally like how small the gym is because I go during non busy times, so I never have an issue with waiting on a machine or equipement. The one thing I have an issue with is the personal training sessions. Because the gym is small they need some equipement and machines for their sessions but they tend to stay in the same area of the gym and most times I dont get acess to some machines that I would like to use. Also today I headed to a multipurpose machine and there was a personal training session going on close by (behind the machine) and while I was in the middle of this excercise I got a tap on the shoulder and I had to take my earphones out for her to tell le that she was using that "area and machine" she told me to finish up my last rep and then if I could move to another machine afterwards. I was a bit insulted honestly and found it rude... You don't interupt someone during their work out...it kills the momentum. Unless its an emergency, of course! Also the trainer and trainee were not using that specific machine at that time and I was not in the way whatsoever. Staff is friendly and its a convenient place to workout ! I am a member since 8 months .I would recommend it if you living in Vanier area!
