Gohe is a West-End staple & home to Winnipeg's most authentically prepared Ethiopian cuisine.

Story

Everything at GOHE Restaurant is made in house. Our Injeera, Ethiopia's 'sourdough crepe' which all our food is served on, is made fresh daily. All our food is made fresh from real meat and vegetables; no cans, no preservatives, only real food. We are Vegan and GF friendly & can accommodate small or large parties with ease.

Walking in we were impressed. We had high hopes for this restaurant. I will say they have one of the nicest dining rooms out of the Ethiopian restaurants that I have been to. We have been trying all of them in the city. I was disappointed by the portion sizes. I read elsewhere that they were very large, but every other Ethiopian restaurant we have been to had larger portions by a lot. Normally my friend and I order and we its way more than we can finish. This one left us hungry. There were 3 of us, but that shouldn't have affected it as we had 2 orders of meat combination and one vegetarian combo. We ended up ordering one more dish (the lamb chacha). I will say the lamb was cooked very nicely. This gets a 3 star, mainly because the other restaurants I have been to have much better value but equally good food. This would not end up being my first pick because of that. I was confused though, and wondered if we were given less, because we looked at other tables and they looked to be about the same for 2 people as we got for 3. It is possible that for some reason our portions weren't proper, and if that is the case then I'd elevate this to a 4, but from this visit I'm not likely to go back soon. The food itself was fine. It wasn't as in your face flavor as some other places, but it was a nice balance. The main meal was fine but the lamb did stand out compared to the combination platter. Service was friendly, but brief. Communication kept to a minimum.

Good food. Service is so-so Large portions of hearty food and the injera is excellent. Service is pretty slow but the music and atmosphere is lovely. Definitely worth a trip

The quickest Ethiopian meal in town, I’m pretty sure. We always get the vegetarian combo and have yet to be disappointed. Tons of food, great injera, friendly service, and a nice sunny dining room.

This is my favourite place to go in Winnipeg for Ethiopian food. Everything on their vegetarian platter tastes great, and their kitfo is the best I've had in the city (served with greens and cheese if you ask). Their flavors are balanced and they clearly care about the food they serve. The owners are friendly and will help guide you through the menu if you can't decide.
