These guys are classy people as I had packed my bike from Victoria BC and the rear derailer was out of alignment and the chain twisted I tried to fix it myself with nothing but frustration! These guys fixed in seconds and didn’t charge me anything. A solid business and highly recommended
Great staff, always helpful. I've gone to this shop a few times, usually in search of obscure small parts. The staff has always been quick to help, and expertly answered my questions. The parts I needed were always in stock due to Giant's parts commonality and reasonably priced. I've never bought a new bike from this shop, but the staff still treated me as a valued customer.
Blah blah supply chain issues — you know the story seemingly across the board in all industries. Unfortunately for me, buying a specific model Giant bicycle was no different. Fortunately I was able to source the particular model I wanted and had it shipped to me in Halifax, to be assembled by Giant Halifax. I dropped the bike off at lunch time and received a call a few hours later and was able to pick it up the same day. Awesome. 2 weeks later I realized my tubeless tire was flat when I got my bike out at the trail. You can imagine my frustration not with the shop, just in general with the bike being a tubeless setup I wasn’t sure on what the heck I needed to do + I had never purchased a pump. A quick call to giant Halifax later, I was told to come in and I would be helped out. They filled my tires back up with air and confirmed there was nothing wrong with the bike wheel/tire to my relief. I can’t be 100% sure but I believe it was Evan that educated me that tubeless tires will slowly leak air over time, then helped me understand how to properly fill with air with the new pump that we picked out in store. I was able to head directly back to my trail and complete my ride!!
So I bought a bike from them , and without checking the store hours I decided to go down on a Monday from a 3 Hour drive. to pick up my bike. And when I got down to the shop the front door was locked and I looked at the store hours and saw that the store was closed. Totally my bad on that part. Then I knew it was a longshot but I figure I send Barry the owner an email saying that I was at their shop. Then he called me within an hour even though it was his day off to let me know one of his technician was at the shop , and could let me in to get my bike. They definitely went above and beyond for me and I appreciate it very much. It’s a great place to do business with!
Overall I had a 5 star experience. I was on the verge of trying to buy a bike that likely would not have met my needs. As a business Giant Halifax was as best of an experience that I could ask for. They educated me of what would be best for me, what would last and what’s current in the biking world. They went through all the effort at their disposable to navigate an incredibly challenging sales environment. It’s obvious Giant cares a lot about their customers. After my very positive experience today I would highly recommend them to family and friends!
Was in this store today and the mechanic scoffed at a mountain bike being light when I used to have one. Also, don't honour the military even though it is advertised. They say they have a partnership with the Canex and cannot honour it due to supply chain issues which makes no sense because if I buy a bike it still comes from the warehouse. So a paid for bike comes in time? Why do these guys get away with false advertisement? If they can't honour it it should not be advertised, and they should do a discount in lieu. I have been a long time Giant customer, now I will never buy from them again. They also said their mechanics were super busy and I saw three of them sitting around not working on bikes at all.
It's like a candy store!! I wanna buy something. But I know it's not good for my wallet! But, I did it anyway!! LOL! Staff are awesome! They know their stuff! And I bought a new bike! Parking sucks in Halifax!! Across the street is a small parking lot backs on to The Citidal Hill park. $4 for an hour. But you'll never get a free spot anywhere else near the shop.
I have bought 3 bikes from this amazing group of people now and I will continue to deal exclusively with them. Service, both technical and customer, are excellent. Very approachable and friendly staff.
From the very beginning of our bike search, Barry provided informative and detailed information well beyond our expectation. He always responded to our questions and provided suggestions that best fit our needs and wants. Right away, we knew this was the place we wanted to purchase our bikes. Being in the middle of COVID 19, this store took every precaution to ensure staff and customer safety. After corresponding several times with Barry, we set a time to come in and he had the bikes ready to show us. He explained the features well and helped us make the best buying decisions. From the bike itself to helmets and accessories, we left excited and were eagerly anticipating the arrival of our new bikes. Barry and the Giant store exceeded our expectations and we know they are there for any future questions and service we may need. We highly recommend Barry and Giant Bicycle Halifax!
Stopped by Today to look for a bike, to my surprise they had a decent selection, I’ve been looking since summer of 2020. This was my second trip into the shop, both times Evan help me, and was helpful both times in, I bought a Talon 1, he fitted me with a great bike, and didn’t try to sell me on one that didn’t need. Staff was helpful and friendly. Great small local business, glad I bought a bike and supported them.
