Food Basics

This isn't our usual store, but decided to stop and get our food for the week her. Everything went well, until we got to the Cash. The cashier threw our fruit and veggies, she also tried to steal the remainder of our gift card balance. We had two $100.00 gift cards and she tried to tell us our balance was $0.00 and only handed one gift card back. We had to ask twice to get both gift cards back. Our receipt showed the balance of just under $50.00. Will never shop at this food basic every again.

Just made meatballs with medium ground beef that was marked up as lean ground beef. Meat was extra soft and so much grease. Will buy my meat from Zehrs or Metro going forward.,

I generally like this place. It usually carries lots of sales items. But they are really bad when it comes to scheduling cashiers or maybe managing them. Because when I stopped in after work during what is normally a busy time for grocery stores, they had only two cashiers working. So I'm not sure how to rate them because in off-hours I actually like shopping here. They have good prices and more than adequate stock but it's pretty painful to stand in one of only two line-ups and watch a number of other staff just walking around seemingly not bothered by the long line-ups of customers.

I’ve been shopping at this store for over seven years. It is close to my home and very convenient. Unfortunately I will no longer waste my time there.nThis store is consistently out of the eggs, produce and more that I shop for.nWhen they don’t have it, I can always find it at Metro, Zehrs, FreshCo, no frills.nI won’t be going back here. Not recommended.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU BUY YOUR MEAT AT THAT LOCATION. I bought ground lamb the 454g sealed packagenOn December 18th 2023, once I got home I opened the package and the smell was very bad sour meat . I went back to the store and showed them the meat. I didn’t grab my receipt as I didn’t think I would have any reason to return anything. The store manager that was on duty I’m not sure about her name - Devon or Yvonne or something like that refused to acknowledge this issue and seemed to think it wasn’t against the public health and safety act. It isn’t okay to sell food that people can get food borne illness from. I wasn’t willing to take that risk. I proceeded to call another location once I returned home with my sour meat and they told me that even without a receipt I could receive an in store credit. I wasn’t looking for a refund. I was going to purchase more meat from their store as that’s why I went there in the beginning. Instead I was left unsatisfied and without dinner for this evening. All because someone was too lazy to do their job. And how do so many people working in customer service even have these jobs to begin? Clearly she knows nothing about customer service.
