Food Basics

I stoped in this week to pick up a few things.nI have never been to this location so it was nice to check it out. I though the lay out off the store was good and the displays off produce and veggies was very nice. It was a well stocked store and the staff were friendly. Checking out I was in and out with no issues.

Good prices on pre-packaged food but beware of the produce. My mother picked up a bunch of corn on the cob that were shriveled and rotted inside. Disappointed.nPlease do better on fresh food Food Basics.nOf course local farm stands are best for produce, if you can get there.

Great location off Geneva St. , beside Fairview Mall , Ample parking , but cars drive too fast near store. Produce is there as you walk in, with many value deals, Much fresh meat and chicken, bought chicken legs and thighs $4.39kg. Beer and Wine is in middle of store ,large selection .Dairy, eggs and cheese, plentiful at back of store. Best part is shopping buggy are free to use. Large and clean too.

Unfortunately this store has gone steadily downhill over the past 3 years. First it is dirty no matter what time of day you go in. The carts are in bad shape. And the staff with the odd exception have absolutely no idea of what customer service means. My apologies to the few staff who are friendly and helpful. Tonight was the final straw….go to pick up Shaw ice cream on sale. Coolers are empty. The person “helping” me pretends to go to the back to see if there is any and is back within 3 minutes saying there is none at all. This is from the front of the store to the very back where they supposedly “checked” and back to me again. Not sure if it is poor management, lack of training or what. On a positive note, the produce bins at the entryway are well stocked and the guys working that area are good.

I was in the store on Geneva St. Yesterday. I had all my groceries in the cart and headed for the checkout only to find that most of the checkout cashiers had been changed to self checkouts. There were no ther cashiers available. I was very angry. I do not like the self checkouts as I think they take away jobs and it takes much longer to checkout as a lot of people do not know how to use them. I think that was a big mistake and forces people to shop else where. I will not shop there again.
