Long wait early in the morning on weekends, otherwise quite rapid. Very friendly service and excellent bread. The chocolate cake is to die for, as are the lemon meringue pie and pumpkin pie. Croissants are fresh and generous. The blackcurrant-filled croissants, when they have them, are pure genius! The salmon, chicken, and meat pies are, unfortunately, too dry, though. Generally, it's a lovely neighbourhood boulangerie and deserves the praise.  Good sandwiches and coffee.

When a Starbucks opened up kitty corner to Copains D'abbord, I made my feelings known by using their bathroom as frequently as possible and never buying anything. I'd occasionally put some change in  the tip jar, which perplexed the teenaged and tattooed baristas. What wasn't perplexing in the least is that the Starbucks is now closed and Copains D'abord continues to make coffee with the one ingredient Starbucks just doesn't have; coffee beans. And love. And those fluffy Fleur d'orange things that are so delicate as to make a paper crane swoon.

We LOVE this bakery! Since it is not in our neighborhood, we make a special trip to pop in here every chance we get to buy croissants and danoises (you have not lived until you have tried their cassis croissant... it is incredible!). I was reminded that I am over-due for writing a review just a moment ago after enjoying their gâteau du roi. It is too bad that the season for this specialty cake is so terribly short, because it is truly the best gâteau du roi in all of Montreal! If you are looking for a quick yet wonderful dinner for your family, here is my suggestion: pick up two of their quiches (we have tried them all and each one is wonderful, yet we are partial to the Lorraine and the Chevre et Tomate) make a garden salad and pop open a bottle of wine and voilà (!!!) you have the perfect dinner. Baguettes here are also amazing and perfect every time.

We stopped here to get the last brunch in Montreal on the way back home to our lovely upstate NY, Everything was fresh, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Thank you :)

Interesting smallest bakery!  Trying hard to have a variety of choices sweet and plain bread! Drop in they are friendly and busy!
