I had a terrible experience at the Esso/Circle K location at 1865 Avenue Rd, North York, ON. I called ahead at 9:35 PM on February 3rd to ask if the gift card machine was working, and the manager, Mathi Senthin if that is his real name, assured me that it was. I then drove 35 minutes to the store, only to be refused service when I tried to purchase a gift card with my American Express card.nnEven though I politely showed my ID and credit card with a matching name, the manager outright refused to sell me a gift card. It was clear to me that his refusal was solely based on the fact that I am Asian. This is blatant racial discrimination and completely unacceptable. No business should ever treat a customer differently based on their race.nnHe even falsely claimed that Circle K does not allow gift card purchases with a credit card and told me to call Circle K customer service to confirm. This was clearly an excuse to deny me service, reinforcing the discriminatory nature of his actions.nnThis experience was not just frustrating, but deeply offensive and discriminatory. It is appalling that such behavior is tolerated at this location. I urge Esso and Circle K to take immediate action against this kind of racial discrimination. No one should be treated like this. Avoid this location at all costs!

They have refused, again, to allow me to pay inside after pumping my gas. First by lying and saying that it's a prepay only pump which it clearly is not and Secondly by refusing my payment. I gave them my change and the staff refused to serve me, the manager says he can't count how did he become manager? And said it's not his job to serve me.nnThey are no refusing to serve me and serving anyone else who comes in without an issue.nI dont know what their problem with me is. I've been polite with them from the very beginning.nnThe first time I was herer they told me that pumps 1-4 are prepay only I was at pump 2 so this time I came yo pump 8. They still refused me and so I went in to prepay. Then they refused mu money, the manager told me it's nit his responsibility to count it. He then said he is unable to count it, now he is saying that it's not his responsibility to discuss this situation with me or try to resolve it.

Good place but don’t go if you want to use the restroom cause they don’t have one.

Super fast in and out. Updated pumps make it easy to pay at the pump quick and easily. Friendly staff, clean lot and store close to hwy 401 for On and off fuel up

Absolutely appalled with attendant Mathi’s service. I have never been treated so poorly by a customer service representative before. I always buy my gas at this location due its convenience and friendly staff. Mathi tried to assume me of being a thief. Locked me out of a pump that is not required to pre-pay. I have at least 50 receipts in my car showing how often I come to this location and always pay for my gas. Mathi openly admitted to me that he took one look at me and assumed I was going to steal from him. That’s profiling and it’s wrong. You have no right to judge me based on my appearance. I know my rights and always treat others how I want to be treated. By the way Mathi it’s not your job to assume people are thieves. What you did today was morally wrong and also discriminatory. Which violates a Canadians’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. I have the right to be treated equally and be free of discrimination just like every other customer that comes to this establishment. Esso/Circle K should be embarrassed to have someone like Mathi working for their company.
