What a great local find! I can see why this is such a popular place with the locals in Bend and the neighborhood. The service was excellent and full of friendly people. The food was out of this world. So fresh and delicious. Be prepared to wait for a bit. We were there on a Tuesday night and had to patiently wait for our food. It was worth the wait. The food was so delicious and fresh. I highly recommend the chips and guacamole, as well as the shrimp tacos. So many great margarita varieties as well.
I’m not sure how this place has so many good reviews. The food is fast food and not authentic or quality, there is no table service and to order you have to wait outside the door in a line till the light goes green and then order right away at the till. I’ve been to many more delicious taco places and I do not recommend this one. Wasn’t feeling the vibe as well. Large outdoor patio.
Came out here with some friends the other day and was really impressed with my experience. They have a wide variety on offer, and I ended up getting a selection of tacos. The oaxaca cheese and the lengua tacos were definitely my favorites. Food came out surprisingly quickly considering the size of our group and everything was fresh tasting and delicious. It's a fun little spot to hangout, and somewhere I'll have to try again the next time I'm in Bend.
Enjoyed my meal at El Sancho. There is street parking nearby, but they also have a parking lot behind the restaurant. The drivway is sort of hidden by trees and ither vehciles depending on which direction you come from. They have a minimal contact system set up, I assume as a response to COVID. You get in line at the stop sign on the ramp. When you look up there is a "stop light" with a red and green light. When it turns green you can go inside and place your order and pay. You can eat inside or outside. If you're eating outside, I suggest you secure a seat first, or if it's not busy, identify a table # you want to sit at bc they'll ask you. There is also a menu at the stop sign so review that bc they want you to have your order ready. Once you order, if you're eating outside like I did you can get your utensils, napkins, and cold water on the deck. They have sauces, etc. there as well. They'll bring your food to your table, but you need to bus your own dishes. Bins for your plates, etc. are at the same area where the water is. I ordered 3 tacos: Oaxaca cheese, Hobo Potatoes, and Mushroom. As soon as I bit into the Oaxacan cheese taco, I almost jumped for joy. It was flavored so well, I was in heaven. I wish I had eaten the other tacos first bc that one was THEE best of the 3. It's a neat place with a nice vibe. The bathrooms are decorated to match the restaurant. One had a black light. I'd definitely go back for that Oaxacan Taco!!! Vegetarian options: Cheese, potato, mushrooms tacos, plus more Parking: Behind the restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to get onto deck and into restaurant
Finally went. Picked up many uber/lyft rides here before covid came. But I am not sure what the hype is about this place? Kinda confusing when you walk in. I guess you order then find a seat. Menu is hard to follow. Wife got a house margarita said was good, I see a cup full of ice I just ordered a pallet jack beer because I couldn't find a beer menu and she said they had it. Beer and margarita came in a Mason jar to the brim. Definitely not a fan of the Mason jar for beer. We both asked and ordered 3 of what she said were thier most popular tacos. They were miniscule. Not bad at all. But overall left us both wanting something more...more style, more veggies, more flavor, more awesomeness. The tacos came super fast, kinda expected being tacos, but too fast service leaves you wondering about how long its been sitting in a crock pot heated all day? Maybe not a big deal. Overall it wasn't bad, but what's the hype about? It was just ok.
We were referred here by local friend in Bend. I ordered their 3 top fav tacos, barbacoa, carne asada & chipotle chicken. My wife had lengua and mushroom tacos. Apparently, this area is well known for their mushrooms. The tacos were very tasty. I ordered chips/salsa and asked for spicier sauce and they came out w a platter of hot options. Wow! Service was friendly and warm. And their prices was reasonable! Highly recommended.
The “Margaritas” were literally Kerns cans juice with low shelf silver tequila served with light ice in a small 8 oz glad….for $10? Not sure what the hype is for juice and tequila, it was embarrassing to even drink but we spent like $60. Their “salsa” was in packets and both the rave of tacos and chilaquiles was way overhyped. Another sad excuse for Mexican cuisine cooked by and with recipes that are not at all authentic. Also, why did we get nothing but the ends of limes for our food? DO NOT waste your money here. I also feel bad for the people who gave this place high reviews, you clearly have not had good Mexican places cuisine. 1/10 including the ambience. The only reason I gave it a 1 is because I’m no longer hungry.
What a great local find! When I heard good things about this place, I was curious to check it out in person. Loved the food. Their tacos are amazing. I highly recommend the carnitas taco. Do check this place around if you're visiting bend. Vegetarian options: Mushroom tacos and veggie tacos
El Sancho is one of those “must go” places for our out of town guests. & if I’m being honest, it’s also on our weekly dine out list. We’ve tried many items on the menu each one delicious but our staples are the veggie & Oaxaca tacos and the chicken tortilla soup. IMO, the margaritas should probably have a 2 per person limit! Great staff, chill ambiance, and good selection of beer.
This was my first time at this El Sancho location. Just as great as the Galveston location. The only big difference is that there is a tad more in door seating at this location. They also have a specific process for ordering with the stoplight system. I appreciate it. Really great way to minimize overcrowding, especially since we are still in the midst of a pandemic.
