For some ending nostalgia I thought I’d visit one last time and do a review. I’ve visited Eau Claire many times throughout my life. When younger with my grandmother and mother at times. Having Subway or seeing the niche odd movie.nnWhen older visiting to cover the film festival in its ancient Cineplex. I don’t think I ever saw it in its prime or recall it having a prime I suppose. It was always somewhat rundown and lacking in shops or reasons to visit it.nnNeat design, but with its location should have been so much more. I really knew it was the end when I saw Son of the Pharaoh packing up, that place had always been there and been interesting looking.nnThat aside, sketchy sort of area and a prime space to become a transit hub I guess. Real shame we didn’t get something grander for that location. Wasted potential downtown.
During my most recent visit and probably last as it is going close at the end of May. It was pretty much just Dead. Almost no one was here and almost nothing here in the food court was open same with the stores here. Iv'e been here lots when it was busy and more popular and stuff. Although it's about to start demolition and that this mall is very dead ill still give it a 5 star just because i used to come a lot here back in the late 2000s and that I've had many memories here. It will be sad to see it gone this summer.
This indoor market is unique. The store is well lit and clean but has a smell of incense. There is a cineplex movie theatre, 6 screens. The stores for the most part are niche. It’s kind of a neat place but I doubt I will visit again.
The mall has seen busier times, but still has lots of interesting stores. Parking available indoors or outdoors, and is free if you donate blood at the Canadian Blood Services centre on the second floor.
I gotta be honest. It's a pretty bad mall. There are not a lot of good stores and they have always struggled to get enough business. Putting a mall downtown seemed like a great idea in theory, but when it opened they realized that downtown was the last place most people wanted be on the weekend. It was a bit of an oopsie. Eau Claire Market is a good place to go if you hate big crowds, like at Chinook Centre.
