Pleasantly surprised with this little theatre! Went for the first time night and had a great time. The auditorium still has the vintage feel but seats have been updated and are spacious and comfy. Had no problem with movie quality and thought the color and brightness was on par with other studios. It's not a flashy Cineplex, but it makes for a great night out at the movies! Looking forward to my next show so close to home.
Still the absolutely greatest movie theater in Vancouver history. Ken Charko remains the gold standard of movie theater owners. And...whatever the hell he's putting in the popcorn, it's beyond addictive. The best popcorn ever. Truly, a superb cinematic experience.
Single-screen local theatres still exist. One of the best in Vancouver is the Dunbar. It has the classic feel with the modern fixing up. Has everything you want for a movie-going experience.
The theatre size is huge and is a great option on big opening nights when other places are sold out. The concession is affordable with some very unique options. Be sure to check out matinee options and their concession happy hours. Edit: theatre used its platform to get political, not a good look.
Very pleased to see this well established neighborhood theater survived Covid and is doing well. Been coming here since 1979, when I first saw Star Wars. Comfortable seating and good concessions. Nice staff.
So grateful that this little theatre has stayed open during the pandemic. For $150-250 depending on the day of the week and time you can book this theatre to watch any movie for up to 5 people with a drink and popcorn included. $20 an extra person. Such a great treat. We’ve gone 3 times in the past 12 months. Staff are friendly and kind. Always feel safe and they continue to enforce Covid policies.
Great seats and excellent popcorn, with a nice if short happy hour from Monday to Thursday
Rude, dishonest, unprofessional and the worst customer service. I don't recommend for private screenings.
Nostalgic theatre for those who grew up in the Dunbar, Kits, and Kerrisdale neighborhoods. Went here as a kid. Take my kids there now. Wish it was cleaner. Feels a little rundown. But I'll keep returning because I love a neighbourhood theatre.
his place is not your Scotia Cineplex but guess what, it has real organic butter for you popcorn so I like to go here
