In 2010, we were first time home buyers looking to buy a house in Mississauga. After visiting several open houses, we ended up at an open house being held by a realtor named Dorota Pilkowska...and that open house was different from the rest. Dorota was engaging, but not pressuring from the start. She welcomed us and gave us some basic information on the home. After looking around, we again spoke to Dorota, and she produced pages many pages of materials about the home. She knew everything about the neighbourhood and even more about the house. She had lists of every upgrade, every major or minor renovation. We looked at several houses before we decided to make an offer. Just prior to making the offer, Dorota came across information that would have resulted in that house being wrong for us. She saved us from making a big mistake. A couple of house visits later, we found one that would meet our needs and made an offer. Dorota worked with us to ensure we could put our best possible offer out there, which resulted in us buying the house. Over the years, we came to love the house and the neighbourhood, and continued to stay in touch with Dorota. Skip ahead 12 years. An opportunity presented itself that would require us to sell the house. Nobody else even crossed our minds. Dorota had been loyal to us, and we remained loyal to her. Unfortunately, when we contacted Dorota to sell the house, she was out of the country, but we spoke several times and she worked with her team to give us instructions on preparing the house for her return. When she got back home, she hit the ground running. She came t see the work we had completed and what we had left. At this time, we made a more comprehensive list of the things we needed to do to prepare the house for market. Admittedly, she put us through our paces during this time. I won't pretend we were always happy to hear from her, but we knew that the work she had us doing would yield the best sale price. Between minor repairs and prepping the house for staging, Dorota had us make an extensive and detailed list of every repair and upgrade to the house. This brings us full circle to how she obtained all the information she was able to give us in that original open house. Meanwhile, Dorota was checking the MLS daily to keep her finger on the pulse of the market. Her thoughts on how we could price the house, changed thankfully upward a few times prior to listing. She produced marketing materials, including a website for the house, prepared for an open house and knocked on doors in the neighbourhood. I know how hard we had to work to prepare the house for listing, and I think she worked even harder. We were in touch daily. Most days, 3 or 4 times. Discussing both major and minor things that would make for a better sale. Finally, the day came, and the house was listed on the MLS. Dorota had been working so hard that there were showings immediately. The house was listed on a Friday and an open house was scheduled of the Saturday and Sunday. We received multiple offers on the Sunday night and accepted one that was above asking price. Dorota wasn’t done yet though. She walked us through everything that happened right up until the sale closed. She looked out for our best interests during the few repairs that were needed after the inspection, coordinating with workers to make sure we met all sale conditions. She coordinated with our lawyer and made the close go smoothly. I know this is rather long winded, but I feel it needs to be in order to understand why I would recommend Dorota without hesitation. The short version is that she is detail oriented, very responsive, has an exceptional work ethic and a great knowledge base. There is no doubt in my mind that she had our best interests at heart throughout the entire process. In her words, she treats a house sale as though she is selling her own house. Thank you Dorota.
