Dockside Family Restaurant

Great food and right on the water. You can choose from Italian food,burgers,sandwiches,soups and salads and seafood on there menu.In the summer you have a choice of sitting outside on there deck to eat over looking downtown Belfast and the bay. Would highly recommend this place to a friend.

Inconsistent - went for lunch this summer. Our friend strongly recommended the fried seafood. We were not disappointed - great scallops, haddock and calamari. Brought our friends for a late supper a few weeks later hoping for more great seafood. While the service was still good, the seafood was lackluster. We may give the Dockside another try but I can't recommend it.

I have been going to the Dockside in Belfast for years, and it used to be a good experience, so when I visited the area this July, I decided to have dinner here again. Immediately, I noticed that the staff was not as friendly and polite as in past visits...barely getting a greeting by the hostess who sat us, upon entering. It actually felt as though we were being an imposition, rather than paying customers. There also seemed to be way too much chatter between the servers, hostess, and bar staff, I mean communication is important, especially when operating a business, but customers should not be subjected to listening to employees gossip about their fellow employees, managers/owners, and even the restaurant's patrons! It is entirely inappropriate and unprofessional. I ordered the fisherman's platter, which was, in my opinion, very overpriced for the quality and size/portions given. The fish was the size of a half dollar coin...at first, I thought it was one of the shrimp, until I realized that the shrimp were ridiculously small, and few. Same for the scallops...flavorless, small, and few! Loads of fries though!! That seems to be the theme, in Maine lately, when it comes to seafood restaurants..."load them up on fries, in a feeble attempt to disguise how we are ripping them off on the size, quality, and portion of the main items!!" If I'm paying $25.00 for a fisherman's platter, I don't want to be digging through the fries, hoping to find seafood; I want to see a mountain of seafood, wondering if there are fries underneath! On the plus side (the reason I gave two stars), the restaurant seating area and restrooms were clean, and the view was nice.

Amazing service. Could use more fruit options. Even raisins would be a good option.

I had their lobster roll, fries, & a glass of wine. Although the lobster roll was a regular-sized hotdog roll, it was loaded with lobster. My meal, not including the wine, was $19.99. The service was very good and friendly. I only get seafood when I'm in Maine, & The Dockside was a great place to stop for lunch.
