Courtyard by Marriott St. John's Newfoundland

This hotel is in a great location downtown and very easy to get to. Staff are friendly, including Teri at the front desk who always greeted us with a genuine smile and conversation while we were there. She is knowledgeable and an asset to this property. The hotel itself is updated, VERY clean, quiet and the water pressure in the shower is the best I’ve seen! The head is about 7ft off the ground so even the tall people can enjoy a nice shower. Next login in the room is great addition.nnIf you had a higher floor facing the harbour, you probably had a great view. We had the 6th floor “City View” and all we could see was the full parking lot.nnThe Restaurant / Room Service are on the pricier side, but that’s to be expected. The food was tasty though and made for a good snack when needed.nnMy only complaint is the parking situation. There are not enough spots as they have rooms. Both nights we were there we had to park either around the corner on another property’s lot as advised by staff which resulted in a 5 min walk uphill beck to the hotel entrance or squeeze into a spot behind in what seems like staff parking. I get property is tight, but it seems the parking lot was an afterthought when they expanded the hotel.

I had such a warm welcome at this Courtyard. I think Teri really left a positive impression on me from the moment I walked in even before checking my status level I felt very welcomed. As we were parking the reception team quickly got everything ready once back inside our room was ready with an upgrade with a fun view of the dockside port which was fascinating for us to watch the cranes unload the ships. It's one of the more unique room viewing experiences that I have had and not a view that I have seen from many other Marriott properties. I love how the lobby level is at the middle of hotel with floors above and below + the entry at base level. It's a unique building to stay in also and really adds to the feel of staying in Newfoundland something not felt while staying at the competing Delta or Sheraton. Parking was across the street from the lobby which was easy in and out.nnUnfortunately there seem to be some issues with applying the welcome 10 USD credit to myself +1 guest per day of stay so 13 CAD which may make for an uncomfortable stay for some Platinum & Titanium guests wishing to make full use of that benefit. It seems it could only be used in the pantry and not at the resto bar in the lobby. In the end we decided to eat out and just went with the welcome points instead to avoid complicating things as everything else about the stay was pleasant. Unfortunately the welcome points did not post either which I will follow up on with Marriott.

This is my 4th trip to this hotel. The staff are so friendly and effective. Terry at the front desk is a real gem! I even got a hug from her this trip. The hotel is quiet and comfortable and close to all the fun stuff st John’s has to offer!

This is a great hotel! Lovely staff, great location and comfortable beds. Shower pressure is incredible! We stayed in a room with fridge, microwave/convection oven and dishwasher which was so handy! We will definitely be back for another stay.

It's a nice place close to downtown, clean, good restaurant, but there are other options with better amenities. The power went out, and I was moved to another hotel for a night because of an overbooking.... That stuff can rattle you.
