Courtyard by Marriott Quebec City

I have stayed at many Courtyards and this one by far was the nicest. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. From the lobby to the rooms everything felt fresh and tidy, which gave a great first impression. The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance, making it very convenient for dining and entertainment.nnThere are still some areas where the hotel could improve. The property does not have an EV charger which would be an important feature for many travelers. The front desk staff also seemed disengaged and not very welcoming. A friendlier and more professional attitude would make a big difference.nnThe biggest disappointment was the bar service. The hotel advertises the bar as open until midnight, but when we returned around 10 PM we were told it was already closed. The response from the staff was curt and dismissive, which left a negative impression after what had otherwise been a pleasant stay.nnOverall, this is a clean and well located hotel that stands out compared to many other Courtyards. With improvements in customer service and more attention to advertised amenities, it could easily become a top choice in the area.

Google lists the courtyard by Marriott in Quebec as a four-star hotel. There's no way this is better than a two-star hotel.nnThere are stains on the walls and patches of carpet missing in room 825. The shower has very little water pressure even if you switch it to the focused setting. You freeze in the shower because it's open and there's not enough coverage with the shower water to keep you warm. The French metal drain plate sounds like a high pitched drum as water hits it. Water gets all over the floor because of the lack of a closing shower door. Not a good experience.nnThe outlets on the left side of the bed aren't working. One is dead and the other overheats.nnGetting help from the staff required several times to get follow through. The front desk is slow with people waiting in line, clogging up the entry way.nnThe machines in the laundry room state the price is 1.50$ Canadian each for washer and dryer, which is confirmed by the staff. When you go to use the machines you will need 7.00$ to complete a wash and dry cycle. Just be prepared with lots of quarters.nnThe views from the hotel are of industrial sites and fast food restaurants.nnBeware of the coffee pot in the rooms because you will burn yourself if you try to pour hot coffee or water out of it into the little paper cup they give you. The cheap plastic lids are misaligned on the coffee pot and the only safe way to pour coffee is by taking the lid off and slowly pouring your contents into the paper cup over the sink because otherwise you will get it everywhere including on yourself because the carafe spout is so small that coffee pours uncontrolled over the edge.nnFor over $300 a night, I'm not impressed. We have Lifetime Platinum status with Marriott, so we expected better. This led to us shorten our vacation by several days.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The lobby and carpets were impeccable. The hotel was clean and smelled nice. I was checked in fairly quickly even though it was later at night.nThe room was quite a good size. The shower and toilet was dirty though and as you can see in the photo I posted the sink was SEVERELY clogged. I also found hair on the toilet and in the shower as well as on the ground also shown in the photo. The clogged sink was very irritating because everytime I wanted to wash my face or brush my teeth it would fill up and become nasty.nI then requested a bottle of water after driving the entire day from another city and at 11 pm at night was told I can come down and purchase it at the lobby for 2$ a bottle. This isn’t something I would expect from a high standard hotel like this one especially when paying premium prices per night.nAs well, when the room service cleaned which they do not clean everyday they just put the dirty covers back on the bed which was evident. The bathrooms were still not cleaned even after housekeeping which is weird as they don’t clean everyday either, so it was shocking that they didn’t have protocol to clean every second day either.nI did find that it wasn’t as dusty as some of the other hotels I’ve been in.

The room was impeccable, and the restrooms were sparkling clean as well. However, the shower area lacked a glass door or curtain, which caused water to spill out and leave the bathroom floor quite wet something that could definitely be improved for guest comfort.nnService could also use some enhancement. Having stayed at many Marriott properties, I was surprised to find no complimentary water bottles in the room a basic amenity, especially important for guests arriving after a long journey. Fortunately, I had brought my own.nnWhen I requested slippers and a dental kit, I was informed that slippers weren't available at all, and for the dental kit, I was asked to purchase it from the front desk for $2. This was disappointing, as in all my previous experiences with Marriott, such essentials were provided promptly and without charge. Charging for a basic item like toothpaste doesn't reflect well on the brand’s otherwise high standards.nnThat said, apart from these issues, the stay was comfortable overall.

Excellent hotel. Room was very spacious. Service was excellent. The service at the bar was amazing. Only four beers on tap but they were good. Hats off to the waitress. The location was really good. Close to restaurants, Costco, the Galleries, and ikea was about 10 minutes away. Quiet place. Lots of parking. My truck fit everywhere. Clean hotel. Highly recommend.
