Cortes Island Motel

Happily accommodated our large group stranded by an Airbnb host who cancelled last minute. Super friendly, wonderful location. If you're expecting pristine conditions, you'll be disappointed. If you want a comfortable place to stay while you explore the island, this is perfect.

Good, quiet, convenient location, however our room was sub-standard and not cheap. Although other rooms have been renovated to some degree, ours wasn't. The entrance door didn't work. My wife couldn't close it and I had to put the full force of my shoulder into it to get it to close. Décor and fixtures dated to circa 70s including the microwave (which was filthy inside) and the box tv. The old stove had a rusty piece broken off and lying on the top. There was mold around the bathroom window and extensive stains to bathroom tiles. Bed (only a double) was adequate at best. No fans or AC provided but fortunately not needed due to low temperatures at the time. Very basic pots and pans supplied but the handle on the pot was falling off and barely held on with the rusty screw. Plates, bowls, mugs and glasses were a variety of different sizes and makes as were the utensils. The drawer almost fell out of the old cabinet when you opened it. No paper towels provided. I would not recommend this motel to travelers wishing to have an enjoyable island experience. It gets a 2 star rating for clean sheets and location.
