I don’t know where I can’t post this so I thought I would start here. My little one was released today and I can honestly say every staff member was so patient and so kind to her. She is a fireball and not the easiest child at times but the way they got get to cooperate was truly amazing I want to specifically mention Molly on floor 12!! My daughter leaving today said at least I made a friend while I was there. You truly made her day during a horrible time for her. Pictures they made so I could run home and grab items…. So thank you all especially her friend Molly!!!
I drove 40 minutes to come here for the first time and I had such a pleasant experience. My son needed surgery for the first time and all the nurses and doctors made me and son feel safe and seen. They all did such an exceptional job and keep you updated every single step of the way! Will continue to drive the 40 minutes because they are worth it.
My daughter ended up in the ER and needed stitches in her nose and lip. That visit was ok. But trying to schedule the follow up with plastics that they said we should have was a nightmare. No one in central scheduling could schedule the appointment. They kept saying a nurse would call me back to schedule. I had to call 4 times over 3 days before I finally got a call back to schedule. Then they told me the Dr doesn't have clinic hours on the Friday they wanted to see my daughter so had to check what to do and call me back. Then called back and said the only time they could see my daughter was the next day at 3:45. So I took that appt. Got a text confirmation that said appt was 3:30. Then got a call the next morning day of appt saying there was an error and they were going to cancel and reschedule for Monday. Not acceptable...already made arrangements with work to make this last minute Thursday appt work so Monday will not work. He had to check with the Dr and call back again. I ended up canceling the appt alltogether...if it's this much of a headache to schedule a simple follow up then I don't need to pay any more money here. I will take her to my regular pediatrician who is not affiliated with children's anymore.
A few years ago we were hit with a surprise medical bill of $13,000 for a heart scan for our little one. At best Children's was inept of it's handling of the billing in our case at worst unethical. Our in-network provider didn't have the proper medical equipment to do this scan so our in-network provider referred us to Children's of Milwaukee. We asked our in-network provider if this would be covered by our insurance since we knew Children's was out of network and we were assured it would be as referrals were always covered. Come to find out this is not the case.nnChildren's of Milwaukee did not check or pre-authorize any of the work done to let us know ahead of time what the costs would be to our family. After we received the bill we were shocked and called Children's and they stated that the bill would be reduced over half to about $5,000 after adjustments were made. We agreed to this change as a compromise. That never happened. We called back and they said no that no adjustment would be made and whoever told us that was wrong. Having no choice if we didn't want to get sent to collections we ended up just paying the bill after trying to fight both Children's and our insurance company. For some reason today I looked back on this event of a few years ago and got angry and decided to at least publicly make people aware of Children's billing practices so they are aware going in. Don't trust what they tell you.
Dr. Creighton is by far the best Dr I have ever met. She was so patient with my daughter at every appointment she has been too. Her surgeon was also the best when she had open heart surgery.
