Ordered takeout. Service was quick. Decor looked nice inside. Prices have gone up from listed prices on the website. Large portion sizes, meat was tender and moist. It was a bit on the salty side, though flavourful. The goat biryani was super spicy for me, could barely finish the meal. My husband has no issues with spice level though.
I've dined at other locations of Charminar but this was my first time at the Markham location. The food tasted great but there were a few things that I just can't ignore. Read on... The Good I had the Goat Biryani Combo from their lunch menu and it was very filling and delicious! It actually included two chicken side dishes, naan, raita, salan, and dessert, making this combo a great value. It was also very filling! The Bad The actual price of the meal was $3.00 more than stated on their menu. Their menu is online and you have to scan a QR code pasted to the table to view it on your mobile phone. Hmmm, suppose you didn't have a phone, or an app to read the QR code? How would I know if I was being scammed by my server? The Not So Great The restaurant is large, obviously two units. One side is very dark and the other side brightly lit. Decor is very stark. Very! The wall surfaces are hard so you could easily hear every word of every conversation taking place in the restaurant. I was seated at a round table that had four place settings but the extra settings were not removed when I was seated. How long had they been there? There was also a pitcher of water room temperature on each table. How long has it been there? All the plates were noticeably chipped. This is the most upscale looking Charminar I've been to but they have a lot to learn about service. My experience at their other locations was far better! At least I enjoyed the food. PS - I never got the dessert.
Ordered medium spiced veg biryani. Firstly, it was extremely spicy. And secondly, no vegetables at all. There are handful of peas, extremely small Cauliflower and like two or three pieces of beans. No other vegetable. Very poor quality food.
There was a good experience there because the dining experience gives you a Indian restaurant type of feel so I will give thumbs up to interior and atmosphere. If I talked about the food, some cuisines were great but some were average. Chicken noodles was great, sweet corn soup soup was too much sweet, channa masala was decent and daal tadkaa taste was above average. But one cuisine was very disappointing for me and its Goat korma, so the first thing was that it was not goat, it was lamb and second thing was that the actual korma gravy is different from other gravy because its on bit thicker side and there was rogan oil on the top. But there korma gravy was not like that, thier gravy was yellow in color and it was not the proper korma So it was basically lamb with yellow gravy.
First of all the Biryani was good and no doubt in that. But when trying a takeout not Uber we expect good packaging and size. The gulab jamun was worthless for the price paid as well as the mutton soupjust one piece which is not the piece mentioned in the menu. And also your location was reaping of bleach smell. So work on these kind of issues.
Very happy with the great food served by this restaurant. Tasted just like it should. The Goat Dum Biryani was excellent with the accompaniment of the Bagar Baingan curry, the Tandoori platter was also very very nice. Ordered Chole Bhature and Masala Dosa. They were excellent. So also were the Chicken and Lamb Karhai. Keep it up but hello the service is so slow. Buck up, hire more people. Don't let all that wonderful taste go to waste.
Tasty, hot food, I will be coming back next to try more items. Restaurant is large, clean setting. Staff was very helpful with my first time ordering. I decided the Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani for takeout and was ready quite fast. Great value for food and price. Spice and seasonings were also very good. Will be coming back to try other dishes.
Tried tomato soup, sweet corn soup, veg noodles and chilly paneer. Didn’t like sweet corn soup at all. But tomato soup was really good. The noodles had many veggies which actually tasted good. I would really like to mention that their portions are large and prices are fair too. My second time experience wasn’t good at all. I ordered chicken lollipops which were like really really bad, chicken pieces were not good at all and it was just the batter coated around the chicken pieces, no taste at all.
Loved the Indian food here. Everything was super tasty and made with a lot of hard work and love. I love the appetizer Guntur Chicken. Beware, it is very spicy. Most people will not be able to handle it. The Chili Naan and Onion Kulcha were mind blowing. So was the Lal Chicken. What a unique flavor. Almost a mix of Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala and Karahi Chicken. Make sense? Must try. Had the Gongura Mutton Biryani. Good flavor but a bit salty. My other recommends are their Kheema Biryani, Malai Kebab, Masala Lollipops and Tandoori Chicken. Overall, one of the best desi places you will find anywhere and that’s a big reason they are now at 7 locations. The service was also excellent and so was the ambience. They have lunch specials that range from $10-12 depending on which one you order. Looking forward to trying that.
Been there a couple of times. But this time dinein was open so could enjoy the food in the restaurant. Good : Ambiance Food Staff Price There is a section for parties as well Not so good: Sometimes food is bit spicy. But it could be my taste buds
