Since when was HALAL meat reserved solely for Muslims?nnI was offered the meat choices for today 12th June 2024: Vegetable-based meat, pork or HALAL meat.nnI asked for HALAL meat, and then she, the volunteer asked if i was Muslim. I said, does that matter. She said, well yes, we are running low on HALAL meat and they need to save it for Muslims. I said, so you are discriminating against me? She said, well if you are going to be like that and then snickered, gave me a bad look and then walked away.nnI am sorry, if you did not want me to have HALAL meat, why did you mention it in the first place?nnOnly a couple minutes later, she approached the van beside our vehicle my friend was driving. The man was a darker hue in color. She asked the same questions but failed to ask him if he were Muslim. I watched and listened for the entire conversation. When she walked by, I got her attention and asked her why she did not ask him if he were Muslim. Again, she gave me a dirty look, snickered and then walked away.nnSince when did food become exclusive to the color of your hue?nnSince when did food become exclusive to your religion?nnSince when did food become exclusive to a particular culture?nnThis was the third time I have gotten attitude from the volunteer staff from the Food Bank since the winter time.nnFirst Time: Was when a volunteer took it upon herself to become Police Chief of the Food Bank. My friends back window was not fully cleared of snow. Something I had mentioned to my friend, and something that I, myself would have thoroughly cleaned, but it was not bad enough for me to press the issue on my friend, as I could still see clearly out of it. That volunteer barked orders at me to clean it. LOL. Nice try lady.nnSecond Time: Was about 2 months later. I did not come back to the Food Bank since the last incident and then there was another volunteer barking orders at us, as though we were inconveniencing her volunteer work. That particular time, due to what happened last time I was there, I decided to complain to the front desk. I DO NOT come to the food bank to have orders barked at me by your rude, ego-filled attitude when I come to get food.nnThird Time: Was the incident I mentioned above that happened on the 12th of June 2024. All within a six month period and all from the female volunteer staff.nnThe volunteers are there to SERVE the Public. They are NOT there to serve their egos.nn***EDITORS & READERS NOTE: I had this thing completely typed out, but my PC lost internet connection. I will be filling it out again when my brain fog is gone, so you can read the entire statement for yourselves. I will make this review more cohesive, like I had it originally when I stop fuming.nnIn the time being, you can GOOGLE me: Luke Materi CTV and CBC News coveragennYou want to know what REAL volunteer work looks like? There you go. I spent 5 years of my life, on over-time hours, 6 days a week working on Community Land Art Projects. You want to know what I sacrificed?nnMY ENTIRE LIVELIHOOD!nnYou need to do better Calgary FOOD BANK. That volunteer female staff member needs to be excused and the supervisor/manager/director needs to find another job. One where there is no authority, imagined power or responsibility given. It is the manager's duty to fully inform and educate their staff, and that is done BEFORE they begin their Service to the Community.nnIf you would like volunteer lessons on how to treat your fellow human-being, let me know.nnIf you would like a lesson on supervisory, managerial or directorial position work, let me know.nnWe are ALL HUE-MANS. We all are born on Planet Earth. The only thing dividing and separating us from one another are people's imagined/indoctrinated prejudices and willful ignorance.

To give the Calgary Food Bank any less than 5 stars is a shame. From the good people who answer the phones to the staff you meet upon arrival have been nothing but kind to me. Sure, at times there is food that you might not like but to get on here and blast them is just not cool. I appreciate all that they do and I extend my appreciation to every single person that donates their time and energy. Stay Blessed.
I appreciate their help, but they give all the expired or about to be expired food only. Even fruits and vegetables that are about to go bad.nI did their volunteer training in which they said that we dont give out expired products, but its the opposite.nShould treat people like real humans and shouldn't have provided expired food.nAnd its not just one or twice , its same every time.nOwned by big corporations to make out their profit.
I phoned for a hamper and was told that I had to wait until April for an appointment. I had hoped to get an appointment in the next few days but no. Also they said that they do not deliver the hampers an I had to go and pick it up from the main office. They won't help me for a few weeks. This is not acceptable.nAlso I replied to your email but it won't let me leave a message. Please treat people with dignity and respect instead of making judgement calls and assumptions and train your staff proper telephone etiquette /manners
