Story

The Calgary Food Bank distributes healthy emergency food to individuals, families and the agencies that serve them.

Individuals and families in temporary emergency situations may request up to three hampers in a 12 month period; four more may be accessed with a referral from a community agency.

The first step is to call the Hamper Request Line at 403-253-2055.

We follow Canada's Food Guide to ensure balanced nutritional content. Each emergency hamper contains 7 days of groceries for each person in the household.

We collected over 250 pounds of non perishable to donate to the food bank. Our wellness center Rest Assured Bodyworks, does this every year. Our clients donate a bag of groceries and we march it. It's always a wonderful way to give back to our city. Thank you to the Calgary Food Bank for all you do to support those who are in great need. GOD bless you.
I cannot begin to express my appreciation for all that these people do. They are so compassionate and kind. I hope to be in a better position later this year to be able to pass their kindness and help forward. Today, I reached out to the food bank. Yes, I confirm that I was late because I received a call from maternity, and they insisted that I come in. I am 8 months pregnant and have a high-risk pregnancy. This was not just because I overslept or anything like that—it was an important reason for my delay. However, I was denied a food hamper.nnYou are a volunteer organization that helps people yet disregards human circumstances. This is despite the fact that we donate bags to your organization, collect them from acquaintances, and help however we can. Until now, there have been no issues with receiving a hamper.nThank you FOOD BANK!
Nice facility though parking can be a bit tight. Staff and volunteers are always very nice and friendly. They’re doing amazing work here everyday for Calgary. Massive thankyou to everyone there for their help, professionalism and kindness.
