I gaved this location a couple chances before deciding to write this review. This is a community vibe grocery store. All the employees are extremely friendly and treat you like family however I'm starting to think this could be a distraction technique. I grew up in this area so I've seen this grocery store change over time and I wish I could say it was for the better.. [1]Fruits-Vegetables are soft and close to rotting [2]Fish/Seafood always next day expiry or not good quality. [3]Halal items are always passed due -expired- however they are still put out for customer's to buy? I just couldn't ignore it anymore so I spoke to the employees and let them know that the halal is expired! They apologized and immediately removed the expired items, which I appreciate greatly however this isn't the first time I've noticed this. I truly hope management will make all the right changes because the community does talk. [Quality doesn't match prices]
Been a loyal customer for years despite the higher prices because the staff were nice. Last Friday I bought some Old Mill pizza crusts, there were four packs in the store and I took two. Got them home and began to make dinner. When I opened the first package there was what looked like mould, about the size of a dime. My eyes aren't the best and the weird spot wiped off when I touched it, plus the expiry wasn't for another 60+ days, so I figured it was a bit of soot from when they were cooked at the factory. I topped the pizzas and put them in to cook. Then I opened the second package. Even with my bad sight, it was clearly mould, about the width of a golf ball. Absolutely disgusting. I contacted Bruno's and told them what had happened. They said to bring the crusts back and get a refund. I packed up the second pack of crusts and the receipt but tossed the topped pizzas because I couldn't take them back until Tuesday today and was not driving around with two pepperoni pizzas rotting in my trunk for four days. I took the one pack of crusts back today, again explained it was both packs, and asked for both to be refunded. Rather than being concerned or mortified that they were selling mouldy products - mould that was clearly visible in front of them - they acted as if I was trying to scam them, as if I've been spending 15k-20k in the store every year for five years as part of some long-con to scam them out of a single $5 pack of pizza crusts! They were so rude and flat out refused to give me my money back for the first pack. Needless to say, we'll be frequenting a different grocery store from now on.
It's convenient, the prices however are crazy, and more than once I've bought product only to find its either beginning to rot or its out of date. The cashiers are pretty slow too. Redeeming quality is that the butchers that are on site know their business and the meat section is top notch.
Bruno's Value Mart now called Independent is a small, local grocery store that has ebrything you need for dinner. From produce to deli to the butcher section. The bakery is small and has very limited options. The prices are similar to Highland Farms or Metro. In terms of customer service, they have poor customer service... half of the cashiers are not friendly. I would rate it a 2.5 out of 5 stars due to their service, but give a 3 for their selection.
Friendly staff, clean store. The prices are more expensive than the NoFrills or Superstore nearby but I find the deli/ready-to-eat meals and rotisserie quick and convenient to grab and go.
My favourite grocery store my favourite people. This is a local community of shoppers. The staff treat us like they are family. It's small enough that you can get around and buy most anything you need. They also provide pick up if you are able to order online. I highly recommend the independent which used to be called Value mart on Underhill
We just passed by for an emergency shopping. It surprised us with all fresh supplies veggies fruits and everything you need. Better than other's of it's kind.

My favourite grocery store! Amazing meats, I got a wonderful beef tenderloin roast on sale and my family thought I had spent a fortune for it. Meats and prepared foods come in family sizes and smaller sizes for one or two person which I personally love because I'm usually cooking for 1 or 2. Staff us always very friendly and often I see them helping elderly customers out to their cars or cabs
The cashier was really nice and the produce was very good. And the other hand, the deli was very expensive, some things were double Highland farms prices. Lots of markdowns, which made things affordable if you are eating them today. Small store, so easy to shop.
