Bonfire Restaurant at the Cove Lakeside Resort

My wife and I went for breakfast Sunday morning. Service was relaxed as was the general atmosphere. The food was correct. If your not adventurous some of the sides will not impress. The sausages, eggs, cornbread muffin were are all excellent. The coffee mushrooms and the other sides were too much for my spouse but I tried them and they were clever but not to my taste. Price was similar to other restaurants and we will go back.

For two of us, this was our first time there for dinner. The other two has been before and commented that they hoped the service would be faster than they had previously experienced. This place has problems and having a new chef doesn't seem to help in correcting them. 1. Two of us ordered appetizers only to be told they were not available. 2. One of us ordered Sable Fish, received cod, and were advised that they had mistakenly given the Sable Fish to someone else, albeit the cod dish was provided at no charge. One of us ordered a sirloin steak medium rare. Not sure it was even cooked. One of us ordered salmon, which was over cooked. All food was cold. 3. Service was slow, slow, slow. Restaurant didn't appear to be that busy. Finished the bottle of wine before any food arrived. 4. Ordered some more wine to have when our food did arrive. Food arrived, was eaten, and received no wine. After eating our meals we were advised that they were out of the wine we ordered. 5. Disappointing, disappointing, disappointing!!! Perhaps two stars is being generous.

We are locals and this place used to be our favorite place to go. Since Brad left it slowly has gone hill. We pretty much stopped going after most of our favorite servers are gone. We stopped in to see how things are going and sat in the lounge and totally ignored so we just left. Very bad service. Have no idea about the food we couldn't even get a drink. When I told the hostess she could have cared less. No wonder the place has the rating it does.

First time here, won't be coming back! Arrived at 1:45pm and ordered immediately because we were very hungry. Food came out after 3pm. Drinks arrived so late into to meal (which were ordered at the time), that we forgot we had evened ordered them. Who know it takes 30min to get a bottle of beer out of the fridge and bring it to the table. Everything took so long that our guests that had joined us had to leave. Asked for ketchup 5 times and nothing came. Our full drinks were taken away from us (while we were waiting for our food). The waitress even joked with us that we didn't want to rush the kitchen in case there was spit in our food! Will never be back here. And strongly encourage no one else to go here too.

A groups of friends and I went for the Christmas lunch to celebrate the last gathering for the year and we experienced terrible service. I ordered a seafood dish and was to have an assortment of seafood and vegetables. When my food arrived, I was disappointed with what was on my plate: deep soup plate with tasteless, soggy risotto. On the top there was two long and dry crab legs, two pieces of shrimp, two pieces of scallops, two pieces of oysters and the vegetables were two peas, two leaves of spinach, two tiny potatoes cut in half and the pea puree was missing. When I asked the server where the rest of the mix sea food was, she replied that was it. I had to tell her that I wouldn't pay $25 for this dish as it was lacking in quantity. She told me she would then talk to her manager. A different server came back to us to let me know that was all the sea food that goes into the dish and they ran out of pea puree. I told her I wanted a piece of fish on top since the offering was meagre. The server went back to the kitchen, and returned and said they would cook a piece of salmon for me at no cost. When my piece of salmon arrived I was no longer surprised by the lack of quality demonstrated by the "cook." The salmon was soggy, old, tasteless and under cooked After the terrible experience we all endured, they had the nerve to charge us a 15% service charge. We will never go back to this "restaurant" and would not recommend this place to anyone until something drastically changes for the better.
