5 stars dim sum experience today, I was surprised that no reservation was necessary but my call ahead booked us a choice large table by the window. Our menu highlights today included salt and pepper pork chops, deep fried BBQ pork pastries, beef chow fun, and shrimp dumpies. Staff was just awesome and friendly, got us everything we needed. The flavours and textures and serving temperatures were all on point, and this Edgemont location was such a win being able to avoid driving and parking downtown. Would absolutely recommend the dim sum here!
I came from Toronto looking for a nice Chinese restaurant in the area. Saw good reviews on Bobby Chao and decided to check it out. Don't be fooled by the cheap looking store front. The interior decor is top notched and the food quality is absolutely best, deserving 5 stars for sure.
Pretty solid for dim sum, sometimes can be hit or miss though and sometimes we can order the same dish but it varies on style of cooking eg. the eggplant in black bean sauce. Usually comes out hot so still very delicious. Would recommend going on a weekend as the weekdays it seems like the quality falls.
Not bad for dim sum, it was a nice decor and atmosphere, everything was pretty clean. I really enjoyed their Chinese donut in rice noodle and the steamed squid, the textures for those items were on point. The chicken feet were over cooked and the sui mai weren’t that great. But overall, I would come back again.
Well, these days services getting better and the food was great some items on menu did not have but they didn’t replace the new or removal, because I have been there for the few times. Anyway I still like to come here.
This place is phenomenal. We drive across the city to get their dim sum. The service is great - everyone is super friendly and helpful. The food is exceptional. The sui mai pork dumplings and har gow shrimp dumplings are juicy and flavourful, and other standouts are the no mai gai, chicken sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves cha sui bao steamed bbq pork buns the steamed spare ribs, water chestnut cake and the rice crepes with scallops. Hats off to Bobby Chao’s, they’re doing something right.
Great barbecue duck and ribs. We were in the second dining room because the first was full. Service was good and courteous. Some dishes there that I had not seen before. I want to go back for more duck!
Bobby Chao’s was a great experience with fresh food and great service. Friends took us here. It was really great. We look forward to next time.
Worst Mapo Tofu, if you can even call it that! Where is the sichuan peppers??? This is like a tomato-based stew. And with bell peppers??? It even says "With Special Hot Sauce" but there's no spice at all! Rest of the food is good.
A solid dim sum place in Calgary with well-made, authentic dishes and a lovely, accommodating staff. Don’t forget to try the egg tart. I’ve yet to find a Dimsum place in Vancouver or anywhere which serves such amazing egg tart. I order their egg tart to bring home to Vancouver… it’s that good!!!
