New Chinese restaurant in the NW! Great because it's like less than 10 mins away from home. It was really busy and we had to wait almost an hour for the first dish to arrive but when it did the food was pretty good. Also the portions were a good size too. Most of the dishes is around $20 each. Staff are pretty nice too and gave us a heads up that since they were so busy, it would be a longer wait.
We came here for dim sum lunch after running some errands nearby. The waiting time was fast even on a holiday. The restaurant was very big. The dim sum menu had a great selection. Some of the dishes were quite unique compared with other Chinese restaurants. Our food came quickly and everything was served fresh and hot. The taste of the dim sum was normal with no surprise. They are more on the pricey side. The overall service was just ok. I think it could have been better. Their dining hall is big but there is only a limited amount of servers to serve their customers.
Been waiting for this place to open! It’s kinda weird because I’ve been to Tudor Rose and Windsor Rose, both pubs at this location before. Now it’s a Chinese restaurant! The decor is nice, not dark like the pubs but big open space to fit lots of tables 60+. This place was busy and all the table full there was a small waiting line. The food was good, portions were a bit smaller and our food took quite a long time to get to table. We had like 2 dishes on the table all the time. Portions you can see in the photos are a bit small and some of these were their super large dish at higher prices. I’m pretty sure this restaurant is run by the chain of restaurants in Calgary as I recognize some of the staff from our restaurants. All in all a good NW option in Calgary and with 14th street over pass open it’s nice and easy to get to. Good place to try out in NW Calgary!
Been anticipating to try out this place for a while now. Finally got a chance to stop by for a late lunch 1pm on a Tuesday. They were quite busy, but we were seated fairly quickly, the service was good. The food came out fast. The dim sum was delicious, it didn’t taste salty which is an A+ in my books. Will definitely be back to try out the dinner menu.
Probably one of the better authentic Chinese restaurants in the NW. We went a couple of days after it opened so it was very busy and a little disorganized which is to be expected. The hostess apologized in advance and asked for feedback for improvement. The noodles definitely had “wok fire” and I loved how the rice rolls were nice and thin. The soup dumplings actually had soup inside and were definitely freshly made. Will come back to try for dinner soon!
Long overdue review. Our family first came here for dinner on their grand opening week, and have since gone back several more times. Our first visit was a busy one, where we waited just over an hour for our food. When our dishes finally came, we were happy to find the flavours were decent. They also provide complimentary soup and dessert, which is great. However, I do find that the quality of their dishes can vary from visit to visit. The dim sum they serve are some of the better selections I've had in Calgary. Reading reviews that they were lacking in this department, it's good that they've improved. I like that they give you veggies with their rice crepes, their milky top baked bbq buns are pillowy soft, and the chicken feet comes with taro root instead of peanuts. Overall, a decent Chinese restaurant that's worth a visit.
Stopped in for dinner. Good portion sizes and food quality made slightly higher menu prices worth it. Servers were extremely friendly. My biggest disappoint is seeing such unforgiving negative reviews for this place on their opening weekend. I’m sure it will take them a little time to iron out kinks and adapt to handling the busy dim sum crowd, but my dinner experience was excellent! Definitely will return and I’m excited by the possibilities presented by this addition to the neighborhood and city’s Chinese fare options.
We have been wanting to try dim sum at this restaurant since its opening and finally made it. We heard they are usually quite busy so decided to go after 1pm on a Monday. The restaurant was still half full, which was quite impressive for a Monday. We ordered lots to share. Our favourite were the truffle scallop shumai, the shrimp dumplings, the pan fried bean curd shrimp rolls, and the pan fried shrimp and chives cakes. Everything else tasted pretty good too. The kids loved the congee although we thought the base would have a bit more flavour, texture was good though. Everyone had a great time. Overall, the quality of food was comparable better for some items to the other dim sum restaurants in the area...not sure about pricing but the portions were good. Everything came out hot. The staff were friendly and provided quick service. The ambience was nice. Highly recommended.
This place literally opened on Thursday this week and everyone wants to try this place so of course this is packed. We had to wait for about 15-20 minutes before we got a spot, we came for dim sum. One of the waitress let us know they are extremely busy and food will be longer than usual and appreciate any feedback during this time as they are still working on improvements. As for service and staff, all were pretty friendly. For food, they ran out of chicken feet and Chun Cheun Fun wavy flat noodles so we only had five dishes for the three of us. All were pretty good see pictures and would come again for dim sum and try their dinner menu.
The service was faster than my expectation, considering how busy it was on a Sunday brunch time. Food wise was just okay. Foods are generally under seasoned. The congee, the radish cakes are bland. The texture of beef stripes and stomach are on the soggy side. The beef stomach is over powered by black peppers. The chicken feet, on the opposite, are under cooked. The bones are still too tough and the flavor didn't get under the deep fried surface as it's supposed to be. The deep friend dough with rice wrap tastes stale inside. The shrimp dumplings have really thick wraps and the shrimp paste filling is bland again. The decor is new, while it's a bit loud in a large banquet hall. Price is reasonable. But I don't mind paying more for better tastes and flavors.
