Very nice and clean. It needs an upgrade but, the views are awesome. Website says they have room service but, to our surprise they had no phone in the room. Just go up to the front desk and they will help you. Inconvenient but, not a big deal. Highly recommend this place especially in the summer. Breakfast was incredible also. Rooms: 5/5
The staff, food and accommodations were outstanding! They made my dog and me feel welcome and went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful experience! Very reasonably priced for having a jacuzzi and beautiful lakeview from our balcony! It was a beautiful tropical experience right here in my hometown and I highly recommend them!!
The rooms are very spacious and beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the spa and fireplace. Large private decks. We had a lake view room. The restaurant has excellent food and service. Very reasonably priced compared to other hotels in the area. We are already planning another trip. The only possible down side if your planning to watch tv, there was very limited channels and was not HD. But wasn't a big deal for us.
Stayed a couple nights for our anniversary. Room was great, we were treated special by everyone and being on the lake was wonderful. T Bones Pier 11 food was the best we've had in a while. Will definitely be staying again.Rooms: 5/5
The place was very comfortable and cozy, i really enjoyed my stay. But I accidently left a necklace there by mistake. So I called and asked if they had found it, the lady that answered the phone said it was indeed in the lost and found. I asked if they could mail it back to me, she said it wasn't a problem, but here we are 2 months later and it never came. Its not like it was something expensive, it just had a lot of sentimental value to myself, so I'm a bit disappointed that she said she'd mail it to me and never did.
Booked online for a quick stay after a Notre Dame game, so glad we did. Such a hidden gem. Definitely a more dated property; but extremely clean, beautiful view and very friendly staff.
Way over priced for a very out dated hotel. Worst mattress I’ve ever slept on no exaggeration. Got taxed 4 times on my 2 night stay. “room tax” & “room revenue tax” x for each night of staying in the same room. Holiday Inn across the street would’ve been a better stay by far.
Was my first time and it was amazeing! The check in hostess was so super nice, very informative and gave us a tour and showed us to our room and even filled us in on all the things to do and enjoy there and in the surrounding areas! The room itself, even more amazeing especially since we paid less then 200 bucks for a night and it was cheaper then travel lodge down the street and had a fireplace and jacuzzi tub in the room! With boat rentals available and a pool too outside to enjoy! The resturaunt is really good, the loaded fries are THE BEST EVER I SWEAR YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED!!! The bartender outside at the bar was very nice, super cheerful and was very pleasant and fun to have hosting the outside bar patio area. I wish I could remember her name but I believe she said it was Russian and she was super fun! I didn't drink that night but she was still very nice and accommodating even tho I was just smashing on loaded fries, She paid attention to everyone even the non drinkers which is so nice to see! Thank you for such a great first experience ladies, you all sold me on The Blue Heron and im already planning my next trip back!
Definitely for old people with low expectations. Carpets in the room smell like pee, lobby is anything but lively, the tv in the bedroom is super tiny, cobwebs on the bedroom fan, old towels, a seam coming apart on the couch, 20 year olds handling the front desk. The only pool is outside so if the weather isn't agreeable and you have kids, you're stuck with an outdated hot tub in the bathroom. My mom and daughter went to the pool in the morning for a relaxing swim and a worker at the bar started using a very loud machine to spray/clean the asphalt, sending the stench of cleaner and of course the particles off the asphalt right into the air. Who does this? Really nice location but the nightly rate doesn't justify it. They need a full revamp and professional staff to charge $200+ per night. Go across to the Holiday Inn; it's updated, staff properly trained, and has an indoor pool for the same rate.
UPDATE: went back to the hotel for another stay. The room we had was the same one from the time before. This time it was less dusty and spider webs no longer existed on the balcony. Amazing job. Staff was very friendly and it was a easy check in. We did find out that the hotel has been taken over by new owners. So I am sure they will be changing something’s. I hope they do not change to much. The nostalgia of this hotel is what makes it. It doesn’t have all the modern features that you would get in a corporate hotel but that is what makes the place. We will be coming back in June so it will be interesting to see the changes that have been made. The brass fixtures are in need are cleaning/replacing due to the hard water. And the mini- fridge where the gasket is could be cleaned better. Besides that once again an amazing stay. We did our reservation online, after I got a message asking what time we would be arriving. When we arrived the room was read and the staff was very friendly. Over all the room was clean, cloud use a good dusting would not pass a white glove for sure but as far as bed sheets, bathroom and floors it was clean. We had a suite with a lake view. The jet tub was amazing personally my favorite after a 8 hour road trip. It was very relaxing and clean. The view from the room balcony was relaxing. The only down fall was there were a lot of spiders on the balcony. Besides that it was nice to sit outside and relax. When it comes to sleeping the bed was soft I loved it but my fiancé didn’t. But he still slept good. Very cute and not a lot of noise at night. Breakfast was good and check is at noon. We come up often to La porte and have stayed at almost all the hotels in the area and by far this is the best one. We are planning to come up in Dec and already booked a room here. I will note it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like the newer hotels across the street but for us it was well worth the money.
