The place is pretty calm and has a very nice vibe. The lady that attended us was super nice and told us about the specials. We ended up ordering the deviled eggs which were very good. We also ordered the duck leg sandwich and porchetta. Both were very delicious and plated nicely. It wasn't to busy and items seemed reasonably priced for the quality it was. Would return to try other items.
This place has been my saving grace during a COVID mat leave. Staff is incredibly friendly, coffee is strong and hands down the best croissant I’ve had in the city. Also very baby friendly. I never remember to get a pic before I dive in - hence the half eaten treats.
Quintessential Neighborhood Cafe with stellar bakered goods, drinks and rocking vibe. Great to catch up with a friend, people watch or just hang out. Had their orange blossom pastry! It was delicious!! Highly recommended
Following TorontoLife's 2022 Top 15 best croissants of the city, I headed over to The Black Pony Café to grab a Dijon Cheddar Onion Croissant and a tea latte to pair. Croissant was amazing, delicious savory flavor, and fluffy soft pastry. The Café itself has a great atmosphere and is filled with kind and helpful staff. Would highly recommend if you're in the area looking for an afternoon treat!
A really nice & cozy spot, good drink options and they have non alcoholic options too which is great since I don’t drink. I wish their cafe menu was open late too but understandable that it’s drinks only after a certain time. Great service too!
One of the best new cafe and snack bars in the east end! Finally a place to call home. Friendly staff, scrumptious food and a comfortable designed interior. The portions are generous and the charcuterie board was super yummy!!!
I hosted my birthday there and am so grateful for the staff and owners at The Black Pony. They were super friendly, the process was easy, the food was tasty and well-priced, and the atmosphere was fun and unpretentious. Would recommend their charcuterie boards and having them make a custom cake. Thank you all so much, this is my new event spot!
I loved my visit here. What a cool, trendy café and patio! We came for a pint of beer, but stayed longer to have their perogies with chorizo and some some cookies with an americano.
This is a great coffee shop and eatery. They have a huge coffee bar with everything you could want. They also have a great selection of baked goods. I think what pushes it to a 5 star is the interior and the atmosphere. It's got a real laid back vibe. Couple nice chairs and a leather sofa for chatting with friends. A good collection of seats and tables. And then there is a large bar that has ample seating. It's really nice, really hip and really cozy. Black Pony is a great spot!
I've visited the cafe on Sunday during lunch time, it was very busy - many families with children - it is a kid friendly place, but also regular independent coffee shop crowd: people sipping their coffee while reading or working on their laptops. delicious coffee as always and yes, there is regular 10% coffee cream available now, plus cookies, pastries and sandwiches. The place is fully licensed, so you can get beer or something stronger there as well! A beautifully decorated interior - there is also another room in the back with more tables, if you're looking for a quieter spot. if you find a moment check out the graffiti on the east and south walls of the building - they are from the times when the cafe was called Flying Pony - super cute and very instagramable. My previous review from early months of 2022. it is so nice to see this place reopened. This used to be cafe and art gallery named Flying Pony, I am curious whether the partially changed name indicates totally new ownership/management, or just means new beginnings for the established business that closed during the Covid lockdown? coffee is good, so are the Christmas cookies that I had tried. the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, five stars for that, they seem to be really nice and genuine in their attitude toward all guests, it is something that one doesn't encounter very often these days... my only wish is that the place offered self-served sugar/milk/cream stand, as so many other cafes already do. for shy people it is a bit of a challenge to ask the barista for additional sugars and cream - not to mention that they use 5% coffee cream instead of the usual 10%. it is wonderful to see this place reopened after such a long time, and back in the neighbourhood. lots of seating place - a treat for bigger groups - a semi private room with a communal table at the back, perfect for caffeinated meetings.
