Black Forest Inn

Inconsistent dishes and burnt food. Inspect your take out! Note that in the past I had good experiences ordering from this restaurant. Waited 3 months in between ordering take out this time though.. My friend and I recently debated where to order from. I'd had a previous bad experience with Black Forest Inn for take out. I reluctantly agreed. Ordered two Hungarian Goulash dinner. At home we first noticed completely different size portions. Mine was easily a meal and a half. My friends was about a half size portion. I balanced out our meals. Immediately noticed the meat was dry. I have no idea how you can have dry meat in a Goulash but somehow they did. The potatoes were visibly very burnt, yet they were still portioned out into our containers. Both dishes were missing pickles that usually accompany the meal, and the salad was swimming in water. The chef clearly did not care how this reflected on the restaurant and sent it out for pick up. These were $15 meals and quality and presentation reminiscent of dishes found at a 'greasy diner'. I ate it because I was hungry but It was not an enjoyable experience. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I will not be a returning customer and, I have told friends.

Service was good. Food was decent but small portion size. Haven't been for several years but I recall the schnitzels being large in the past. I had chicken and left the restaurant wanting to get something to eat. Worse than that, it was dry and boring. My wife had goulash and even though we paid for the full sized order it too was a small serving size.

This is an older German styled restaurant, with very rustic german feel. It's very old school here, with food that's everything you would expect. Schnitzel, Sausage, Sauerkraut, German beer on tap and Black Forest cake. Prices were reasonable, portions ample and quality was good. Will definitely return.

Loved this place as a kid and not much has changed! Not a lot of updating, but truly that adds to the charm of this restaurant. The old school family vibe pairs perfectly with the European style food. The schnitzel, oh the schnitzel! Grab a pitcher of beer and enjoy a slow trip to the old country!

Very cute decorations and lovely atmosphere. Service was great and food was yummy. We got the meal combo for 2 and it was so much food! Didn't seem like there was that much versatility in the menu and what we ordered, but overall a pleasant experience.
