The pros were that this location didn’t overcook the seafood which was nice. Everything was cooked perfectly. Tried the collagen bone broth here and it seemed much saltier than other locations making you very thirsty. My bowl had enough soup but my significant other’s bowl had very little soup and was almost like eating dry hot pot. The strawberry ice cream at the end was good.
We decided to try Big Way Hot Pot tonight. There was a good assortment of meats, fish, noodles and veggies to choose from. The six of us were able to choose all of our favorites. I ordered a medium spicy signature ma la tong soup base. It was yummy. The frog legs and snake head fish were yummy. The blue crab unfortunately was not good. The flesh tasted mushy. There were a couple of hiccups with our soup bases as well. A couple of the mild ma la tongs came out as medium or more spicy. The servers were great however and changed up the soups! The matcha ice cream was a nice treat.nThe atmosphere was good except the size of this location meant that everyone was going around your table picking their foods and then paying for it. Nonetheless it was a good experience. I would however go to their other location a few doors west instead as the flow of patrons through the restaurant appeared better.
Amaaaziinggg restaurant! This restaurant is based on make your own hot pot n you have to pay for your meal based on the weight. If you visit before 5pm, you get a free drink and everyone gets an ice cream after their meal!! Taste is also very good, but go for mild spicy broth, medium spicy is also very spicy. Their staff is very friendly
Their web based reservation system is convenient and service was good. The system is easy to understand but you need to go few times to find your best recipe. I tried hot Ma Ra Tang. I liked it a lot. It is affordable and delicious.
This restaurant is busy! Make sure that you go on their website and join their waitlist before you get there so that you don’t have to wait too long to get seated. Once it’s your turn, you’ll get a giant bowl and you fill it however much you want with meat, veggies, and noodles. Ingredients are weighed and assigned a cost. You then choose your soup or a dry mix and your beverage if any. They’ll give you a number and within 10 mins, everything will be cooked for you and brought over. I love how I can choose exactly what I want in my hot pot and the costs are reasonable for what I order. The malatang is very flavourful and order the medium if you want some kick as the mild was way too mild for me. You also get an ice cream cone at the end of your meal, included as part of the price. Everything is great except that you always feel rushed because there are people waiting and servers are quick to turn their tables over. Other than that, it’s a fun experience and I would come back again. I enjoy this location more than Kingsway as it is brighter from the outside lighting.
