Honestly this was an overall solid experience!nnWe tried this place for the first time a few days ago. As someone who isn’t very familiar with hotpot, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. I heard that it’s “not real hotpot”, but was open minded. The woman at the front was very kind & immediately greeted us. She could tell that it was our first time & was eager to go over how things worked. We grabbed a pot & tongs, then began to fill our bowls. The ingredients seemed quite fresh & the area was very clean. My only concern is that you use the same tongs for everything you touch same tongs for fish, chicken, beef, vegetables, noodles, everything, so the amount of cross contamination going on is quite concerning. Afterwards, we ordered our broth & paid.nnI got the Signature Ma La Tang hot spicy & my girlfriend got the tomato broth medium spicy. Both dishes were very good! The had nice flavour & was very pleasant, but not mindblowing. Unfortunately because of the cross contamination, my girlfriend got quite sick later that evening.nnAll in all, it was generally a good experience. If the cross contamination was kept in check, then I’d rate this place higher, but for now I’d give it an 8.4. Might be a good go-to spot for some relatively inexpensive hotpot!
Had an amazing experience at this hot pot restaurant! The food was fresh and delicious, with a great selection of meats, seafood, and vegetables. The broth was flavorful, and the dipping sauces made everything even better. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was cozy and fun — perfect for sharing a meal with friends or family. Everything was clean and well organized. Definitely a place I’d love to come back to!
An excellent selection of fresh veggies, Mears and proteins, and noodles. You pick your ingredients, choose your broth and it's expertly cooked for you. A good choice of make your own sauce as well. Everything tasted great and the service was quick and attentive. Black tea ice cream included for afters.
Bigway hotpot in burnaby was one of our favourite place to eat especially this cold szn. I recently ordered szechuan dry mix ‘coz i wanna try something different.When I got my order , first thing that I’ve noticed was the noodles. It seems uncooked and it’s hard to bite. I confronted the server for that reason and they asked me if they could just take it and try to cook the noodles. For the second time they hand me my food; the pot was hot but my food was cold and they just add lots of sauce on it.the noodles were just the same and uncooked. Also, my boyfriend waited for like 15 mins. for his food since I got my order. I understand they’re busy but I hope for better service next time.
This restaurant has definitely changed over time.nnIt used to be one of my favorites, but after a couple of months, the quality has really gone downhill. This is the second time I’ve received my food half hot and half cold, and the taste is nowhere near as good as it used to be.nnWhat’s even more disappointing is the attitude of the staff — they’re not as friendly or welcoming anymore, which really takes away from the experience.nnThe cleanliness has also declined, as you can see in the photos I’ve attached.nnUnfortunately, I can’t recommend this place like I used to.
