It was my first time trying big way, and I'd say yeah the hype is worth it. They have widely customizable bowls and the soup flavour is soaked into the ingredients you add in. You get free ice cream too at the end which is awesome. And, if you come at happy hour you'll receive free drinks as well.nnOverall, 5/5 experience. I always love a good self serve place.
Had an amazing experience at this hot pot restaurant! The food was fresh and delicious, with a great selection of meats, seafood, and vegetables. The broth was flavorful, and the dipping sauces made everything even better. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was cozy and fun — perfect for sharing a meal with friends or family. Everything was clean and well organized. Definitely a place I’d love to come back to!
Honestly this was an overall solid experience!nnWe tried this place for the first time a few days ago. As someone who isn’t very familiar with hotpot, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. I heard that it’s “not real hotpot”, but was open minded. The woman at the front was very kind & immediately greeted us. She could tell that it was our first time & was eager to go over how things worked. We grabbed a pot & tongs, then began to fill our bowls. The ingredients seemed quite fresh & the area was very clean. My only concern is that you use the same tongs for everything you touch same tongs for fish, chicken, beef, vegetables, noodles, everything, so the amount of cross contamination going on is quite concerning. Afterwards, we ordered our broth & paid.nnI got the Signature Ma La Tang hot spicy & my girlfriend got the tomato broth medium spicy. Both dishes were very good! The had nice flavour & was very pleasant, but not mindblowing. Unfortunately because of the cross contamination, my girlfriend got quite sick later that evening.nnAll in all, it was generally a good experience. If the cross contamination was kept in check, then I’d rate this place higher, but for now I’d give it an 8.4. Might be a good go-to spot for some relatively inexpensive hotpot!
One of my favourite hot pot places in the country.nnHaving experienced probably over a hundred hot pots, I enjoy the lack of compromise and negotiation and blackjack-counting-cards type attention required to locate ingredients you've successfully put in a broth ... instead here, what you pick is what you eat. And the broth you want. Load up on BBQ sauce, garlic, and green onions and cilantro to your heart's content on the side.nnJust love the concept, so much easier.nnThe soft serve ice cream cone at the end is always so very welcome. The only way I could see improving this place is providing a raw egg to go with my BBQ XO sauce.nnIt's a busy place during peak meal times ... so I always aim for non peak times. No need to wait in line.
Great spot for a quick lunch or quick dinner but I feel like the quality has gone down with time. The broth is less flavourful and the meat is tougher. Dry mix is also a bit inconsistent, sometimes too watery. Service is always good and fast though! Wait times can get long during peak dinner rush.
