My husband and I booked a 2 night stay for July 25th to July 27th. After we checked in, we get to our room and there was no bedding on the beds. We had also booked a king but got 2 doubles. There were no towels in the room and the room was disgusting. We had to clean the toilet seat, and the sink. The floor was wet and on one of the beds was a huge yellow stain. We also paid more for a fridge but it was broken and we were told there was nothing they could do. Back to the bedding issue, when I went down to talk to the front desk clerk, I was given 2 options. 1. Leave but there would be no guarantee that we would get a refund. Or 2. She could give me the bedding and we would have to make the bed. We went with option 2 because we couldn't afford to lose the $220 we spent on the room plus pay for another hotel. Absolutely avoid this hotel at all cost.
Saw a good deal for a room here on Priceline so I decided to try it out. I was previously staying at the Baymont West location for work and it was a decent experience, so I was hoping for the same at this one. I couldn't have been more wrong. As I pulled in there was a group of homeless/ junkies hanging out by the parking lot. I found out later that they live under a bridge behind the motel. After I checked in I just dropped some food off in the room because it had a fridge, but not my luggage. It was brief because I had to get back to work. The room was definitely not as nice as the one I had previously stayed at their other location. The couch looked like something you'd find by the curb on garbage day. There were some stains on the bed sheet. The bathroom looked pretty sketch. Over all it just looked overused and dirty. But I was used to staying in some rough motels to save money during my business travels.nWhen I came back later in the day after work I found my key no longer worked. When I finally got into my room I found out that someone had been in there, either sleeping or looking for something. Since the mattress sheet was pulled back on one side. A pop bottle was on the floor, which means they went in the fridge. Good thing I didn't leave my luggage! I notified the front desk immediately and they sounded really surprised it happened. I ended up transferring back to their other location since there was no way I could trust staying there that night. I found out later from a former employee that they would catch people in rooms all the time, among other crazy things, at that motel. How they would get into them is beyond me. She even had video she took of it.
DO NOT STAY HERE AS A FEMALE AND DEFINITELY ALONE. When I initially drove up with my friend near the entrance men started to surround my car on phones. I’m unsure who they were waiting for but my friend and I very cautiously got out of the vehicle and went to check in at the front desk. The front desk employee is very friendly and polite, the lobby area is nice. As my friend and I went back to my car to grab our stuff the men opened their door on phones again but we strayed away from them, got our stuff and went through the entrance into the elevator to the second floor. As we got out of the elevator another man started to follow us and speak to us almost all the way to our room, we picked the speed to get in the room and lock ourselves in. The room did not look like the pictures and smelled heavily of cigarettes. We could barely breathe but I was still trying to convince myself it was only for a night and it was cheap. As my friend and I went to leave for our plans, the men once again came out of their rooms as they saw us walk to my car. My friend and I got in the car and immediately knew we could not stay here. We felt incredibly unsafe. From arrival to the feeling of we need to get out of there for our safety wasn’t more than 15 minutes. I moved my car to the back where the men wouldn’t see us, got our stuff then went to the front desk to check out and explained to the very nice front desk employee our concerns. She asked if the men had done anything physically to us and I confirmed they did not, just surrounding my car and one following us to our room. I was a able to get a refund.nI greatly urge no one to stay here, especially females and to add alone females. Please be aware of your surroundings. I would rather sleep in my car at a loves then possibly get trafficked. The room was not like the pictures and I should have read reviews. I booked it because it was cheap and the pictures looked good for a 69$ hotel. The nice staff is the only good thing about this place.nPlease be safe everyone. Spend the money on a safe hotel.
This was by far the worst hotel experience I have had, and as a former corporate businessman, I have traveled extensively over the past 40 years.nnThe first room strongly smelled of smoke. The toilet leaked profusely from the tank when flushed and flooded the bathroom. After a complaint, I was moved to the room next door. This room had the following issues: the heater blew cold air at 68 degrees and sauna temperature one setting warmer. The TV did not have any connection to cable. The power had been off, so possibly that was part of the issue, but the previous room and the lobby had cable. There were dead roaches under the sink near the bathroom. There was blood on the bathroom doorframe and door. The door’s deadbolt would not work. There was no coffee machine in the room, although they were kind enough to leave coffee packets. Just nothing to brew it with. The vending machine in the lobby was not working. There was very limited lighting in the outside hallways, leading to almost tripping over bicycles left in the hall. Finally, the bed was very uncomfortable, with a sever slant toward the side most obviously used the most.nnAfter showing photographs of the blood and roaches and speaking to the other issues, I had hoped there would be some consideration and compensation for the room conditions. Instead, all I received was an apology for the issues. I have stayed at several Baymont hotels in the past and have always been happy. This one needs a huge remodel. Like raze it to the ground and start over.nnEdit: I just read another review from four months back. I’ve attached the reply to this review. Wyndham states they are not a hotel, and apologize for any confusion and promise to update their website and booking partners to show the same. Four months later, it is still being advertised as a hotel.
To: District ManagernBaymont by WyndhamnKalamazoo, MI – District Management OfficennSubject: Urgent Complaint – Uninhabitable Conditions at Baymont by Wyndham, Kalamazoo MI Request for Full RefundnnDear District Manager,nnI am writing to express my serious concerns and utter dissatisfaction following a recent stay at your Baymont by Wyndham location in Kalamazoo, Michigan. What I experienced during this visit was not only far below the standards of your brand, but an outright health and safety hazard. I am demanding a full refund and expect immediate attention to this matter.nnUpon entering the room, it was unmistakably clear that no meaningful cleaning or inspection had been performed prior to my arrival. The toilet contained stale urine, and the overwhelming smell indicated it had been sitting for quite some time. It was revolting and made it clear the room had not been sanitized in any capacity.nnEven more disturbing was the condition of the linens. Both beds—though made—had obviously used and stained sheets, with visible discoloration and body fluid markings. Towels in the bathroom were crumpled, unwashed, and reeked of mildew. On top of that, a half-used bottle of mouthwash was left on the sink, as though it belonged with the room amenities. This was not only unsanitary, but a blatant sign of total disregard for basic guest hygiene.nnThe bathtub was completely unusable, clogged with hair, bits of trash, and soap scum. Worse still, a cockroach emerged from the tub drain—a deeply disturbing experience that left me unwilling to use any facilities in the room. Roaches were also seen in the hallway near the elevator.nnThroughout the hotel, I encountered transient individuals loitering in stairwells, hallways, and even near guest rooms, several of whom were clearly under the influence. At night, the noise from these individuals was disruptive and made me feel genuinely unsafe. I witnessed open drug use near the side entrance and had to repeatedly request a front desk staff member to intervene.nnThe physical condition of the room itself was equally unacceptable. Wall plaster was cracked and crumbling, paint was peeling, and multiple door handles were broken or hanging loose, including the bathroom door, which could not be properly closed. These are not minor oversights—they are signs of serious neglect.nnTo summarize:nnUrine in the toilet upon arrivalnnStained, unwashed linens on made bedsnnUsed personal hygiene products left in plain viewnnTrash and roaches in the bathroomnnBroken and deteriorating room infrastructurennDrug activity and loitering in common areasnnAn overall feeling of being unsafe and unwelcomennI have documented each of these issues with photographs and video, which I am prepared to submit if required. This experience was in direct contradiction to the standards of cleanliness, safety, and professionalism Wyndham claims to uphold. I was not provided with habitable accommodations, and therefore I am entitled to a full refund for this stay.nnReservation Details:nGuest Name: Micheal JenningsnStay Dates: August 1-2, 2025nConfirmation Number: [Insert Confirmation Number]nnIf I do not receive a satisfactory response within 7 business days, I will escalate this matter to the Better Business Bureau, Michigan Department of Health, and Wyndham Corporate, and I will leave detailed public reviews on TripAdvisor, Google, Yelp, and social media to inform other travelers of this experience.nnI hope you will treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves.nnSincerely,nMicheal Jennings
