Baton Rouge has the atmosphere and potential… but unfortunately, our most recent visit left us feeling a bit under-served. With two servers assigned to our table, we assumed we’d be well taken care of, but they were far more focused on the larger groups around us. After chasing them down just to get attention, we waited well over half an hour for our mains to finally show up.nnThe dining room also gets very loud during busy times. It may be fine if you’re after a lively evening, not so great if you’d like to hear the person across from you without leaning in and shouting.nnThe food itself is fine. It is decent quality, but the portions are surprisingly small for the price. Be cautious with the meat: twice now we’ve ordered medium-rare and been served closer to medium. Not disastrous, but disappointing when you’re paying a premium.nnAnd as spinach dip enthusiasts, we had high hopes, only to be met with a bowl of flavorless dip, no melty cheese on top, and greasy tortilla chips. Fresh pita wedges would have gone a long way in helping it out. This one is a polite “no, thank you” for next time.nnWe’ve had better visits here in the past, so I’ll leave room for improvement, but if you’re spending that kind of money, you might want to wander across the parking lot for dramatically better food and a level of service that actually acknowledges your existence.
I've enjoyed the Albert street location a handful of times. Hunt Club needs work. Wasn't good.nnNo music, section almost empty one other table so no background noise or chatter, felt weird. At about 8:30pm a server in the section right next to us vacuumed their entire area, should wait until guests are gone. Our server didn't seem like she wanted to be there at all, a bit pushy. Our reso for 8ppl was 7:45pm. Table wasn't ready on time even with mostly empty restaurant.nnFood was bland. Glass of wine tasted like the bottle had been open a week or so. Lots of fruit flies. Didn't seem like a 7oz filet mignon. Peppercorn sauce tasted like a barely warm gravy. Out of baked potatoes so added the toppings to mashed. Potatoes were cold. Friend got ribs, fries, coleslaw. Paid upgrade for the side to Caesar salad. Didn't come with both fries and coleslaw now. Weird.nnHostess was great and the food runner did really well, fast a friendly. Was happy to see that he didn't auction the plates or drinks at all, well done to him.
Our group of 12 had a wonderful visit together at Baton Rouge. We had the back room to ourselves with plenty of great service. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. So glad we gathered here.
We had a large group of about 30 people. Really nice atmosphere. The service considering the size of the group and that the restaurant was packed was amazing. Very friendly, efficient and personal service. The food was brought to a table reasonably quickly considering the size of the group.nI ordered the Mediterranean Banzino Fish. It was a good size portion. A little blander than I expected but apparently that's typical of this white fish. The risotto it came with was large portion. Really delicious. I couldn't stop eating it LOL. I would definitely go back. Highly recommend it.
The location is excellent with plenty of parking. Service is consistently good, and food is usually served promptly. However, the quality of the food has varied over the years... it can be hit or miss depending on the dish and your personal taste. Overall, still a pretty good experience.
