Barry Lycka MD

I highly recommend you assess his physical ability prior to allowing him to perform a medical treatment on you. Pay close and careful attention to his motor skills and ask yourself if you would trust this person with a scalpel, needle, or any medical equipment on you.

I found the staff lack respect and the website says nothing about cost. The response was industry blabblah blah, this business knows an idea of cost. You have a cost line item for each procedure yet they refuse to tell me their cost until I consult the doctor. I find it questionable when they aren't transparent about cost. As a result I refuse to go to someone who isn't upfront about cost.

I visited Barry Lycka's office for a mole removal. He did a sufficient job, although I feel his staff were far more helpful then he was as any interaction I have had with him is VERY brief. I felt like each visit was rushed and my problems were not necessarily cared about/listened to. I have since visited another dermatologist regarding an ongoing problem with acne, which has been resolved without the use of Accutaine, which Dr. Lycka had recommended. Overall, I felt like appointments were rushed and mostly dealt with by Dr. Lycka's staff who, to be fair, are all very helpful and friendly. Wasn't what I was looking for in a dermatologist.

I rarely write reviews (particularly negative ones), but for $8,000, I felt I needed to express my opinion. If i could, I would give no stars. I had laser lipo on my stomach and "love handles." The results were FAR from good and my sides are no longer symmetrical. I guess for $8,000 I expected more than a quick (30 minutes-ish) surgery and at least some follow up (the 30-60 day follow up appointment never happened as I never got called. I guess they had my $8,000 already, so follow up wasn't required.) I wasn't overweight, my lipo was primarily because my belly and love handles bothered me. Still, I paid a lot of money to get what I consider a terrible result. If i had it to do all over again, I would have placed far more value in the reviews I read before choosing where to get the lipo done.

With such a crazy array of hysterical reviews can I weigh in? I've been a patient of Dr. Lycka's for 12 years. He is a busy man and sometimes doesn't spend as much time as the patient desires. The nurses on staff, however, can often answer all those questions and provide all the care and empathy needed by those who so desire. Dr. Lycka removed a carcinoma from my face 12 years ago leaving no scars - it is virtually invisible now. He is a skilled surgeon with a wealth of experience and expertise. That's what I want - a specialist in skin diseases.
