Ayo Restaurant

I ordered take-out here through Uber Eats. I happened to be in the area and decided to order here so as to support a local black owned business, and also due to the high rating on Uber Eats. When I went to pick up my food, the woman in the restaurant however just wasn't friendly or welcoming. I asked to use the washroom, it seemed like she wasn't pleased about that and spoke to me in a condescending manner. Anyway as for the food, not super impressed either, I ordered jollof rice and egusi stew. The jollof rice was very basic! The good thing is that it was not super spicy, but it just wasn't bursting with any exciting flavors, they do add some few plantains to the rice, like 6 or 7 pieces, and that went well with the rice. The biggest dissapointment was the egusi stew, nothing to do with the taste, but the portion is so small! I understand that the cost of food and everything is up, but this was just stinginess on another level! I have spent less money in other places with more and tastier food than what I got! The taste of the egusi was ok, a little too spicy for me, but just ok. Will I be ordering here again? Absolutely not! I'm big on customer service, and I won't give my money to an establishment that doesn't treat their customers well. I initially thought I was being given attitude because as a black woman we are used to getting poor service from our own people, but after reading a few reviews, seems non-black people felt poorly treated as well. There are many other more welcoming establishments I'll give my hard earned money to.

Super duper & super efficient Mr Ayo together with his wife - they both make a wonderful team. I’m always salivating for the jollof rice. Search no more if you’re looking for a Nigeria restaurant in Montreal. Ayo restaurant is the place to visit. I assure you’ll be treated well and you will never regret it. Food taste lush and sumptuous.

I am Mexican and I am lovers of gastronomy, I love to try all kinds of gastronomy and African cuisine is one of my favorites, tonight I went to this restaurant, which was attended by a woman who, I am sorry to say, was very rude to me, when I arrived, I let her know that It was my first time in her restaurant, she asked me what I was looking for?! to which I replied: rice, meat and any type of salad, if she could recommend something, she replied, no, that was an African restaurant, that made me feel uncomfortable because there were several diners and I left the restaurant, never I had been treated so badly in a restaurant

Just visiting Montreal and decided to have a taste of Nigerian food with my wife. You will be disappointed by this place. Restaurant atmosphere is run down, food is not tasty and customer service is below zero. I surely will never recommend this placeFood: 3/5

Extremely stingy, and very poor service. I can tell the focus is more about making quick cash, than keeping customers interested in returning to their restaurant.

The person was in a hurry to close but he did make us a dish, bud he didn't gave us a menu or to offer a take out a menu...no manner!

Amazing authentic quality food. And great customer service. I 100% recommend eating here. PS. the portion size is worth the money.

Neat environment. And cool interior. Plus the quantity of food jollof rice was massive and delicious. I will definitely dropped by when next I visit Montreal area.
