Axe Music Incorporated opened its first store on the outskirts of Edmonton - a garage with a dirt floor - in 1980 - devoted to building, stocking and selling pro audio equipment. Since then, that one tiny store has grown into 2 high volume store locations, making Axe one of the largest retailers in Canada of pro audio, guitars, keyboards, pianos, drums, amplifiers, recording equipment, lighting, karaoke, electronic percussion, DJ equipment and video gear.

The staff at this store are super helpful! I'm very new to audio equipment and the staff member who assisted me did an incredible job. They explained the equipment in a very straightforward and not intimidating way! They really listened to what I was looking for and stayed within my budget as well. The store is beautiful too, very clean and well set up. Nice to see this building getting put to great use! Cannot recommend enough, thank you!
Most excellent experience. Purchased a new guitar on payments. The staff were helpful but not in my face. Of course not every L&M will be the same. It all hinges on who happens to be working there. I might also point out that I worked in musical instrument repair and retail most of my life. I imagine it didn't take the sales rep long to figure out I knew what I was looking for and didn't require any help other than pricing and financing. I used to shop at L&M on 107 Ave but it has since closed or relocated. This one will now be my regular goto store for my musical needs excepting perhaps amps and such which I'd probably shop for used at various locations. I highly recommend this location. Hell, it almost sounds like I was paid to write this but I assure everyone that's not the case. Just giving credit where it's due.

This location is terrible, at least I got a hello at the Mayfield location. Went in on Wednesday the 23rd with in the first hour or so of the store opening. The store was not busy, but the 6 or so staff just stayed around the counter, avoiding my brother and I the entire time we were in the store.. when I finally found the amp I came in the store for, I had to wave someone down and ask if I could buy it.. I came to this location after a positive experience buying my son a used guitar from the Mayfield location, but found out I should have just bought the amp off Amazon instead. If I had already drove there, and planned my day off around this stop I would have left empty handed. I was going to buy additional accessories, a couple patches cords, a couple straps, and some picks.. the essentials for a new guitar player, but Amazon got that additional purchase because once buddy showed up with the amp, he hid away at the counter and didn't even let us know he had returnedI was looking at the ernie ball cords at this time but he did have the audacity to ask if I needed anything else, as I was paying. No thanks. I was considering music lessons for my son here, but after this experience, I could only imagine the poor quality of attention that would be given. Bottom line I won't ever set foot in this location again, and the sales staff could seriously learn something about customer service.
My Dad just bought me a new pair of headphones for Christmas. When I open it, there was a cut and the right speaker wasn’t working. I bring it in immediately just to be told they think it happened after I opened it. I travelled 3 hours, so I’m very disappointed and my only Christmas present I got was already ruined... Love Long & McQuade but this location isn’t my first choice.
Great place to find all your musical needs. From the amateur to the professional. To satisfy all in between. Lots of great stock and more arriving soon. New location is bright and professional looking. Lessons available and free easy parking. Great addition to the nieghtborhood and 118ave.
I bought a new head and realized the power cord was missing the night before the stat thanksgiving holiday. I took a chance and sent an email asking for help on this. I connected with Bill Thain at the store and he hand delivered the cord to my hotel on the stat Monday! Hands down the best service ever at this location!!! Bill Thain… you sir are the man!
One of the biggest L&M I ever visited in Edmonton. I can stay all day here!, the place is huge, clean, well organized and the the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. I came home with new Epiphone Sheraton Pro II semi hollow electric guitar and Epiphone Viola Bass guitar Fantastic guitar. I grabbed the opportunity of 0% interest for a year. now, I have two of my favorite guitars to play.
The guitar is nice and reasonable but had a bad experience. I told them i had never played a guitar before therefore had some questions but representative said they cannot help me which makes sense. I had booked class on the same day and was given right handed guitar instead of left as i had no clue there is a difference nor did they ask about it but not their fault. however i lost money for lesson as couldn’t use it in the session. I rushed to shop immediately after the class to get it exchanged but arrived just 5-10 minutes before closing and requested them to change it as i have another class paid and booked but they denied to do it saying its too late. I believe knowing that i had never played a guitar before, staff could have been more helpful.
L&M always have a huge selection of instruments and accessories. I always leave there with what I need. The sales people are not pushy at all but they're there if you have questions as they're all very helpful. Thanks for the great service. L
