AFURI ramen + dumpling

This place has a very modern appeal and it was nothing like what I was expecting. You order your own food on a kiosk machine. The softshell crab visually looked good but I felt bun was a little thicker than it should be. The crab tasted very good and the bun was soft and spongy. Our ramen tasted a bit salty but there was a depth of flavor in the broth. Sadly, I did feel hungry after our meal as the portions are on the smaller side and it was a bit pricey.

The food was quite yummy to me and I loved the portion sizes. I did not find it small and on the contrary, I ended up leaving most of my noodles because it was super filling. The atmosphere was nice, although I did not love the kiosk ordering style as we spent 15mins standing there trying to get it to work when one kiosk froze because the payment machine would not load and then the second one said that there was an error. It was frustrating to say the least, but the food was decent. Although when it comes to ramen, I have had better based on the noodle texture and the type of pork that is used.

We got the Yuzu, Tonkotsu, and chicken ramen with other appies. Not sure why this place is at a 3.6. It’s not a 5 but think that it’s between 4-4.5. Read some of the other reviews and can see their criticism but we found the thicker bun was good as we like carbs. Portions are a bit smaller for the price but nice presentation and flavour in our option of the 3 different broths we had. Karage and fried gyoza were both good and hot. We would have preferred the soup based a bit hotter and we had no issues with service. They do drop the food and not come back but we like that especially during a pandemic and our server was polite and friendly during the interaction we had. Less interaction the better and yes they have a kiosk where you order from which we liked but can see others not. Inside was well spaced and clean but enjoyed sitting on their outdoor tables on a sunny July 1 after watching Top Gun Maverick Dbox at silver city. Nice way to end off the day with a nice meal!

Good ramen for North America, a little pricy for what I’m used to in Japan, but I’m guessing that’s normal prices around this area. Definitely filled the craving for ramen and a cool spot to eat. Ordered at the front on a touch screen which was cool too. Overall good stuff.

AFURI has done a 180 since I visited two years ago. Improved taste, quality and presentation. This time round I got the Tonkotsu Tantanmen, it was a perfect mix of rich and savoury flavours. I also had their spicy chicken bun, it too was great. It's definitely worth your time to visit and taste what they have cooking here.

really loved the ordering system here. There was no obligation to leave tips, which was nice. I also really loved how the noodles had a faint scent of yuzu, which was great at enhancing their taste. We got the dipping noodles, which were cooked perfectly. In addition, we got the fried enoki bun, which was crisp

One of my friend recommend this restaurant to me. My first time to come. Side dishes chicken and dumplings are very delicious, noodle were tasty. They have outside table which make sure fresh air during Covid 19 special period. Although my friend remind me the speed of their dishes come out is a little slow, but ours were quickly on our table. Strongly recommended to the people who loved Japanese cuisine. This is really worth to come to try.

This is our second time visiting this restaurant, the broth has a hint of citrus but that the didn’t take away from the delicious taste but rather enhance it. The chasu has a smoky flavour that I don’t find in other ramen places we visit. My only pet peeve is not being able to peruse a regular menu at the table. You go to a computer screen and choose the items that you like. It takes away of leisurely reviewing the items you like with the people you’re with and that’s part of the experience I enjoy. Also, not seeing the description of each main dish on the main page doesn’t help as you have to choose the item look at the description and then back out again. With all the selections it’s hard to remember them all. I want a table option menu please. Other than that, broth and chasu are very tasty.

My husband and I have been to AFURI twice now and each time we went, we both enjoyed our food. The first time around, we both had ramen - Yuzu Shoyu & Yuzu Ratan and the crispy pork gyoza. They both had wonderful flavors, but I did notice that my dish, the Yuzu Shoyu was a bit salty for my liking, but I still enjoyed the dish. The gyoza is definitely a must! The second time around we had tried all the buns they offered: Crab, Pork, Spicy Chicken & Crispy Shitake and then of course, the crispy pork gyoza. Out of the 4 different kinds, we really enjoyed the pork & crispy shitake buns. The third time I decided to go with their buns, ebi spring rolls and gyoza. The ebi spring roll was pretty good but the gyoza tasted a bit off than the last two times. The pork bun also didn't taste the same and for some reason, the shitake mushroom bun also lacked flavor. This place is pretty modern and you order at a kiosk and seat yourselves. The staff was very friendly and the arrival of our food took no time at all. It's worth checking out if you're in the Richmond area!

5/27/22: I really enjoyed my meal! There were about 5 people inside around 630p on a Saturday night.. By the time I left it was pretty full. Once you walk in, order at the kiosk, pay, grab a number, and find a seat. Service was really prompt and friendly. Loved everything I ordered. Niniku shoyu ramen, karaage, and gyoza. Karaage was spot on. Light crisp batter, lightly seasoned and juicy. Fried gyoza was done well. Crisp and not over done. Filling was tender. Ramen noodles cooked perfect. Broth is a bit in the heavy side, slightly creamy, very delicious. May be a bit salty for some. Chashu was a bit fatty but tender. I spent about $44 including beer and tip
