As a Chinese, I love trying out different Chinese food in Toronto, and I must say that this restaurant offers very authentic Chinese food at a very fair price. Most likely, you will not be able to get that much amount of food at such a price in any restaurant in Toronto. The amount of food is huge even for an adult male. I can never finish the food when I order ! This is never the case when I visit any other restaurant or even fast food chain. I agree with some other reviews that the waiting time is long and the service can be improved, but these people must understand that you are paying a really low price for so much food, and it is unrealistic of you to expect a Michelin-star level service!
Spacious restaurant that is open 24hours!!! So convenient for those nights when you really need a midnight snack! Friendly staff but English is their second language. Lots of items on the menu to choose from. The seats are not the most comfortable but this is the kind of place for a quick bite and then you leave. Write the items you want on the order sheet provided along with your table number. Bring the sheet to the cashier. Food is brought to your table pretty quickly afterwards. Once your done, you go back to the cashier and tell them your table number and pay your bill. They take cash only so make sure you have some money on you. We ordered: 7.99 Three meat dishes combo-seaweed, pig ear, tripe good portions, good side dishes, good price TO7. Lamb Soup $10.99-delicious soup, good amount of meat, comes in a metal bowl sitting on top of a flame so the soup stays hot longer Soybean Milk $1.99 - ok Z28. Yonghe Special Fried Rice $10.99 - slightly spicy, good ingredients, really tasty dish This is comfort food at its best. Will be returning to try other items on their menu
Let's put it this way. Some may think that some of the workers have attitude. I do agree. But then again based on the culture that they came from its very normal. The food here is great and they are always available. There aren't any places in Canada you can eat cooked food 24hrs anywhere. I have been here over a dozen times and I must give them credit for putting up with many different customera which have different expectations. If one is to look for fine dining etiquette then forget it. But if you are looking for a decent place to get some good food assuming you know how to order the proper meal then this is the place for you.
Worker had an attitude but that’s more of an cultural thing. Food is good. Next time I’ll rather take out 4 star for the sticky table and cash only.
I only ordered takeout from delivery app so I can only speak from my takeout experience. The food tastes good at it price - not something so amazed that I would order very often but a good taste at reasonable price that I want to order when I don't want to cook. I give 5 star for the service because there was one time I ordered dumplings but the food arrived as one bun. I called in and they said I can refund or make a note in my next order. I don't know how to do refund so I chose the latter. When I order next time, I was already a month after the 'incident', I didn't have high hope when I put down the note as it was a while ago but they did add dumplings in this order. It was a positive experience for me.
Love the portion here! We love the lanzhou noodles here and their meat buns are to die for! Follow me for more food adventures on Instagram at @maggielicious.to
Food here is good. I've already been back twice this week. They have some tasty buns and meat pancake. I'd also recommend trying the cold noodles, very similar to the Korean cold noodles, sweet and spicy. Only down side of this place is that everyone in here only speaks Mandarin. I still ordered fine by pointing at the menu it has English. They also have a whole lineup of food at the front, cafeteria style. I haven't tried it yet but it seems like you just grab and pay at front. Things are decently price and I would definitely go back.
This was an overwhelmingly positive breakfast experience. I've never had anything like it and I loved how down-to-earth everything was. This place, which was essentially an open cafeteria, has both a hot food table station and menu items which you can order. Basically I had a combination of both. A lot of the things are in Chinese but you can simply ask if you are unsure about anything.
For all those complaining about not catering to non mandarin speakers. The same can be said for non cantonese speakers when we go to cantonese speaking restaurant. I don't speak mandarin or read Chinese. There are many Chinese dialect, not just cantonese. I have been there many times and their food is not your average cantonese food. I had no problem ordering, I let them know, I don't speak mandarin and they try their best to speak very broken and accented English just like my manadarian and cantonese, but we somehow understand each other. As for leaning English, I can tell you my parents who immigrated over 50 years ago wished everyday that they could communicate in English. No knowing English in Canada gets you the lowest paying jobs and will not avail yourself of all the benefits of a Canadian. So next time, look in the mirror and you will see a hyphenated Canadian. I do agree hygiene has lots of room to improve.
It's hard not to notice this place especially at night. Bright lights, big open windows, you can't help but take a peek in. After waiting a few months since they put up their sign, I decided to pass by this place on the way back home to see if they were finally open and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was. It was about midnight so I was happy to find something open that wasn't a McDonalds. The decor and layout of the space is very inviting, a good cross between old school Chinese decor and modern styling. Was greeted and told to sit anywhere, so I picked a spot closer to the front so I can see how everything works. Mind you, this is not the typical breakfast place despite the name. The restaurant seems to specialize in Norther Chinese cuisine. The menu itself is fairly concise, not an overwhelming selection like how you would expect most Chinese restaurants. The main issue however is that if you cannot read Chinese, be prepared to hit a roadblock. A lot of the menu items are direct translations and do not describe the dish at all, and the staff speak next to no english aside from asking how many seats. The signs/menu items on the wall are also written in Chinese only. Google translate may be your best friend here. I ordered the Chilli Fried Noodles, Chilli Oil Beef, Leek Pancake, and a Pork & Cabbage Bun to try. Everything came in a fair amount of time one after another. Overall, everything was delicious, especially the Chilli Noodles and Beef. If you're a fan of heat or just want to warm up from the cold, these dishes are definitely for you. The bun was also very juicy and soft, well worth the $1.50. While delicious and full of flavour, my only wish is that they used less oil. The amount of oil on everything I felt was much more than is needed, everything was practically drowning in it. -1 star for that. Another issue was the service. I mentioned earlier that while the servers speak minimal to no english, they seem to lack the basic customer service skills on top. It took 10 minutes for the bill to arrive in an almost empty restaurant 1 other table of 6 other guests who appear to be friends of the staff. Even after waving at the 2 waitresses, literally 2 feet away and calling for their attention, they managed to look directly past me and walk away. When I finally decided to walk up to the front cashier and ask again for my bill, the staff just looked over at my table and walked away to ask someone else to do it. I'm not sure if this was just a case of lack of training and she didn't know how to, but I found it extremely rude. Total damage for the night was $30. Would I come back? Maybe. Since there's limited options open late in the area, if I have no other choice I may return. I might give them a few months to flesh out their service details and see how they do, because as is I don't think they'll have many returning customers. If you can look past the poor customer service/experience, the food itself is rather worth a try if you’re brave.
