GREAT PLACE TO GO WHEN YOU ARE OUT OF WORK. THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL AND EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL

The manager, Una, is a miserable old crone. I approached Careerworx to obtain a grant, and I overheard the old hag tell my career counselor that she was not going to help me get it. I am a woman in a male-dominated industry where despite this being Canada, there is ALOT OF DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN IN THE WORK-PLACE. And regarding the male discrimination, the manager told my counselor that, as a woman, I had to continue to "...'suck it up'." . Hearing that really hurt. That old hag is the face of not only Careerworx, but of its 'parent' organization, the YMCA. She is supposed to treat everyone equally, and without discrimination. But, on the contrary, her remark is evidence that, she is not only discriminatory, but she is disrespectful, unprofessional, and nasty. When you phone the main reception-line, although civil, those who answer the phone, rarely respond in a professional manner, despite a receptionist being hired in order to answer the main phone-line. A new receptionist is hired for a period of roughly 3-4 months. I've encountered 2 now, who've not only been unprofessional, but overtly insolent. (Maybe they'd been selected by Una, because Una felt more 'at-home' with someone of a similar mentality.) If you DO decide that you still wish to try to obtain services from this government-subsidized employment place, I recommend the counselors: Kim, Katie, or Angelika. These are very kind and hard-working ladies. They are the opposite of the miserable, old crone-manager named Una.
