YMCA Camp Pepin

I've been part of the staff at an awesome children's summer camp for the past 15 yrs. I can't wait to come back every year!

It was so fun at Camp Pepin!! The counselors were so nice and I cried when I had to leave because they become your family in just a blink of an eye! It's a nice environment, the cabins are nice, there are a lot of jokes that slip through, it's just really fun and you or your child is really going to love it there!! :D

I started going to camp pepin when I was 7, and it will be my 7th year this summer. I look forward to it every year and cannot express my feelings towards this camp. I would recommend it to anyone. I can't wait until I'm old enough to be a counselor. I've made so many friends there, and had many amazing experiences. I will never forget the memories I made and can't wait for more!

Bad- Just bad. My daughter was registered, all of her paperwork turned in over 1 month before her attending camp. I called 5 days before her camp started to make sure they had all of the paperwork required and nothing further was needed, they confirmed. We get to camp and surprise, they do not have any of her paperwork. So I had to fill out 6 pages front and back of paperwork all over again. A lot of this paperwork required information I did not have on me and there was no cell service so I could not look it up online, such as Dr. and dentist contact information etc. So instead of getting to check out the camp and explore like the other children's parents were doing with them my daughter had to sit there and wait for me to fill out paperwork for about a half hour. Secondly, there was severe weather while she was there and I tried to contact the number given on the paperwork and handbook and it was disconnected. So I contacted my local YMCA to see if there was another contact. They had no idea of who to contact even though this is who we registered with. Lastly, directly on the handbook it stated the pick up time was 3:30 and for parents to be there to sit in on the closing ceremony. I get a call while on the way to pick up my daughter and they said I was to be there at 2:30 to pick her up, not only did I miss out on the closing ceremony my daughter was the last and only child sitting there. Not cool. Apparently when the other parents were exploring and getting a tour of the camp while I was left filling out paperwork they were told to pick up an hour early, but because they lost my paperwork I was not informed of this information. So when I showed up to pick up my daughter and was there what I thought would be early at 3:20, I expressed my concern but it was teenagers, so I asked them who I could speak to that was in charge. They got someone who was in the camp office, but she said she was not in charge but would relay the information to the director and make sure he gets back to me. Well guess what, I never got a call. I would never recommend anyone to YMCA Camp Pepin. They do not know what they are doing there and if they can't get it together I do not trust them caring for children. Just bad business. Very dissatisfied.
