Let's take a minute to appreciate this hidden gem! It doesnt pop up quickly in a google search but it's easily the BEST Jamaican food in Edmonton. It's right up there with the best in Toronto. This literally tastes like it's coming from your grandma's kitchen back home. Flavourful, tasty, and done just right! Portion sizes are good and you get an ample serving of veggies Coleslaw plus salad. You also get a side of plantain along with the meal. The owner was very sweet and friendly. I would highly recommend!
I don’t even have to talk just look at the picture FOOD WELL BLESS I had it for the first time on Saturday and came back the next day Sunday cause this yah food nah miss me !!!! As a Bajan /Jamaican who was raised in Toronto that has an infinite amount of Jamaican restaurant options , I’ve been living in Edmonton for 10+ years now and I been complaining about the Jamaican food access here for restaurants so I’m beyond happy this place exist. And they are open on SUNDAY !!!! Yea I’m real happy and as a foodie trust me I wouldn’t give them the stars I did if they didn’t deserve it, plus the cakes they sell are so good . I tried them all and ate them all lol …. 10/10 for everything … PLEASE DONT CLOSE !
Delicious food, family-friendly atmosphere The most delicious Jamaican food I've ever had in Canada, apart from my home. I drove 9hrs from British Columbia to get to Edmonton, the food at Yardie Sweet Spot was worth the drive. Real authentic Jamaican taste. LOVED THE FOOD, LOVED THE FOOD Food: 5/5
I got a small cup of soup, which was a solid 10 out of 10. And a Curry Goat again solid 10 out of 10. The food is excellent. A mistake was made on first visit, it was rectified on my second visit. Food and culinary skills has proven to be consistent on third visit.Food: 5/5
I encountered a very rude experience. There were no manners, and the food was dry and stale. The atmosphere felt lifeless, and the taste was far from good. They don't update their website. It's not worth it; there are much better Jamaica places in the city where the staff has manners. I drove there after checking their website, which said they were open until 10 PM. It was only 5 o'clock when I arrived. when I walked in, the lady at the counter said that they were closed, not to me for some reason but to the four men she was talking to. When I asked, "Oh, you're closed?" she then speaks me and says yes. Before I could even leave, a large, man began walking behind me, essentially pushing me out the door and closing it in my face without saying a word. I was shocked; It's definitely not worth it. Find a place where the staff has better manners.
At first site, walking in, the place reminded me of a little Jamaican road side restaurant that you would happen onto while driving along the ocean front road from Ochi to Montego Bay. It was our first time visiting this sweet spot and we only saw it because of a little Jamaican flag along side the road. I didn't know what to think at first, but the gentleman working the counter was pleasant but reserved. We ordered, not really knowing what we were going to get, but when the food came out we were pleasantly surprised! The presentation was excellent! And portion sizes were good value for the money. The presentation prompted us to keep shopping! We bought drops and a tropical drink as well. We had a 15 minute drive home and the food was still warm and fresh! The salad tasted fresh cut and the oxtail was moist and succulent! Well done! We will definitely be back! We can't believe that we just found this place and the gentleman said they have been open for three years!! In short! It's very Jamaican! Parking: Parking at front and rear.
Hands off to the cook! The portions were great first of all. There was proper greeting, and the vibe for the restaurant reminded me of Jamaica. I ordered oxtail, with rice and peas cooked to perfection. Also, ordered provisions and the dumpling and green banana so nice!! Overall the Yardie Sweet Spot is the go to spot for me in Edmonton anytime, anyday, any hour. The pastries are off the chain, and they taste authentic. Nice, nice, nice!!
Went here for dinner and cake, and this restaurant made us happy. It was a busy Friday afternoon, but the service was quick and accurate. The owner was friendly and gave me suggestions on what to order. The cake was moist and perfectly flavourful. The food was cooked well and served hot. The salad was fresh and tasted good, too. We will definitely be back to this hidden gem.
Wasn’t the best in my opinion idk if it was a bad day or what but atmosphere was very dead no music, cashier wasn’t welcoming whatsoever looked miserable no menu with the prices which I didn’t like. I got the oxtail and rice and peas and the rice was to soft and mushy and oxtail was wasn’t that traditional oxtail flavour was good but More so tasted like a spicy brown stew sauce, wasn’t tender looked like a good portion for a large but half of the meat I got was just fat, and the coleslaw didn’t even have myo what Caribbean coleslaw don’t got mayo? so overall definitely NOT a top recommendation been to a lot of Caribbean restaurants in the country and this is by far the worst
Consistently Authentic Jamaican Food! Their flavors, many options, generous portions and good service is what differentiates this restaurant from others. They have become my go-to restaurant for my family when we feel for the taste of "Yard". Keep up the great work!Food: 5/5
