Great 3-4 hour trip! A bit uneventful compared to what other people have experienced. Launched a 9’ kayak with pretty good water level the entire time, mid June. It starts out wide but about a mile in gets a bit narrow especially for a kayak paddle, inexperienced canoers or longer boats. A few logs to get over so having belongings strapped down and in dry bags is wise. Spent about 3 leisurely hours going 3 miles down and back, with more difficulty coming back against the current. Flies were bad. Saw a few heron and imagine if I wasn’t fighting the flies so aggressively, I would have enjoyed the birds I had startled, a bit more. Parking was $11 paid on an app, toilets were open. No shelter from the sun, but that was my own misleading expectation.
Washroom was closed when we launched our kayaks here on a Saturday. Nice paddle in, more difficult than you would think fighting the current in the low water level on the way back. Saw an excellent assortment of birds great egrets, Harris Hawk, American bittern, kingfishers, herons, Sandhill cranes, sandpipers, plovers making the difficult journey worth it. We will return to try again in the spring time to make it through to the Nottawasaga.
We launched our Kayaks here today. The launch is more of a mud area that you can safely launch and is more then ideal for anyone not scared of mud. We started east and went till we came across metal ropes going across the waterway blocking us. So we decided to head back and go West. It went to a branch in the water and we went to the left which was REALLY narrow. We decided to cut our loses and just go back back but it was a great experience anyway and took us a number of hours to complete.
There is no trail here. A very short one about 400 meters then it’s all bush and swamps. Only good for canoe. Otherwise pick a different spot for hiking. Parking is 10$.
It's fast and tight with the current at low water. No real rapids but it's a chore to paddle back upstream if you are going solo. Some spots were really narrow and quite awkward to solo a 16 foot Prospector. Mostly grass and mud banks but bring your beater paddle to pole or push off the banks.
Great little trail Water is clean but very low
There's a nice little foot path. Lots of tall grass, some snakes, ducks, hawks, etc.
Quaint little spot. Small community appeal. Not far from the city.
Very nice place to launch.
Great spot to begin a canoe or kayak trip in the Minesing swamp area.
