Attended at this hospital today. Parking was ample. Hospital is clean. Every interaction I had from the desk clerk, to the nurses, to of course, my Doctor were all fabulous! In all the years I have had to attend, the interactions have always been the same.
Worst hospital in the GTA, I’m sure.nnMy grandmother has been admitted to this hospital multiple times in the span of two weeks. Each time she has been discharged, her results were ‘normal’. The problem is that they were rushing to get her out of their way, rather than being thorough and testing for anything and everything.nnA couple days ago, she passed out and was unresponsive for a while. The ambulance brought her here, but was discharged hours later. My mother contacted the nurse to question why my grandmother was already out, and suggesting that she probably has an infection. Every paramedic we spoke to on different occasions believed that she did. The nurse goes on to have an attitude and says that the paramedics are not doctors… but nobody said that they were?? Then the nurse suggested home care but how are care workers going to help with her constant shaking, confusion, fevers, etc?nnWell, it turns out that the paramedics and my mother were correct. She WAS released too quickly because after more tests, we discovered that she has a blood infection.nnTherefore, if you truly believe that something is wrong with you or your loved one, do not let these nurses dismiss your feelings. It’s certainly not all of them, but a LOT of them.
Went into the psych ward to get help with my mental health. While waiting in triage, I watched two elderly patients get support from OTHER patients instead of nurses. I watched a man throw slurs at another patient and the nurses heard and did nothing. They had me sit in an uncomfortable chair for 12 hours knowing I had chronic back pain and had been up for 24 hours prior. When I asked for Tylenol or Advil they told me “our hands are tied” and it wasn’t until I had a family member call that they gave any kind of physical support. Which they immediately started helping after my family called. They also kept waking me up every hour after I had spent all night in the hospital awake. Telling me I had to stay up and walk around or else I wouldn’t sleep later. Which had the nurses read my file, they would’ve noticed I have a tendency to oversleep. For those with chronic back pain-we all know it gets worse with no sleep, stress, and being in uncomfortable positions for long periods of time. Then while staying there, I was treated as if my needs were secondary to other patients around me. I would ask for support and they would help others who asked after me. Also in the ACC I was sitting close to another patient who was being EXTREMELY homophobic and misogynistic towards me and the security and nurses both witnessed it and did nothing. Didn’t even ask him politely to move. The psychiatrist gave me a medication that causes weight gain after I had asked her the side effects and she said weight gain was NOT one of them. When I left the nurses handled my belongings with little to no care. Overall 0/10 experience. Never been here and had a good experience but this was the cherry on top. Thanks Brampton Civic!
I recently had a visit to the William Osler Health System for an MRI, and I must say, it was a remarkably pleasing experience. My appointment was scheduled for 2:40 AM, a time that proved to be incredibly peaceful and quiet, which added to the overall positive experience. The staff was exceptionally helpful, guiding me through the process with care and professionalism. The MRI itself was straightforward and much easier than I anticipated. I left feeling well taken care of and grateful for the smooth experience at such an odd hour. Highly recommend!
Just a quick note to say how well we were treated at this hospital. My mother was brought in after a fall and was placed in a diagnostic holding area ... the staff were so helpful and friendly. My mother is well taken care of and we so appreciate how hard the staff work under these trying conditions. They do the best they can and they are very efficient ... we are so thankful for all the help we get with regards to medical issues ... we should all be so thankful we live in Canada ... thank you all for your efforts ... it is much appreciated. My husband and I have been in numerous hospitals over the years and we have never had a bad experience ... which is saying a lot given all the cutbacks the medical profession always gets ... you all deserve special recognition! Thanks again.
