We decided to try brunch at Wildlight and was pleasantly surprised. The decor and colours are welcoming and seating on the gray cloth benches were very comfortable. Mimosas were great but I was surprised that my coffee wasn't topped up. I loved my crab cake benedict but would have much preferred roasted potatoes over a pretty potato 'bar'. We also loved the fluffy pancakes with blueberries and lemon curd and the chicken and waffles. Yum! It was so lovely that I was offered a complimentary dessert for my birthday. Overall, the service was great and the food was pretty delicious. We will be back to dinner soon.
Excellent food with a good atmosphere. A lot of attention to detail with the ambiance. The Hanger Steak Skillet really impressed me and the lemonade is great for kids and adults. There was a decent mixture of more affordable options but the mains definitely tend toward the higher end price wise; however, the quality made them well worth it. There were a few hiccups with our service that could have been smoother but I think that might have been a one off and I would definitely recommend Wildlight.
Came to try this lovely new restaurant on campus with some of my team the other week. I went for the gin infused mussels dish, which was stunning. Everything was so fresh and the nduja butter bisque really elevated the flavours! The dishes my colleagues went for also looked and smelled amazing. The restaurant decor was also lovely - it felt very modern and bright on the sunny day we visited. I hope I get the chance to come back and try some more of the food!
Wildlight Kitchen + Bar is pretty good place! The design of the restaurant is great and inviting. For the food: - The seafood fettuccine was amazing and definitely a 5/5 dish. The white wine cream sauce was divine. - The farmcrest chicken was a 3.5/5. The chicken was paired well with the mustard seed jus. The seasonal vegetables were great and fresh. But, the lemon and thyme polenta had an odd, overpowering, and acquired taste that I did not like too much. I think switching the polenta for a mashed potato would elevate the dish to a 5/5. - The Wildlight burger was a 2/5. This dish’s saving grace were the delicious and perfectly made fries. The burger itself was dry and tasted depleted and to clarify, this does not have anything to do with the fact that it is dry-aged. The server asked for our feedback, apologized for the dryness, seemed to sincerely take it back to the kitchen, and kindly removed the burger from the bill. The service was great and the timing of the food was good as well. I think this will definitely be the UBC area’s next great stop with some tweaks.
Wildlight is a fantastic new restaurant! They pay close attention to detail in food quality and their service. It was certainly the best dining experience I have had in a very long time. They have a great menu and it was hard to choose what I wanted to try. I decided on the duck which was so good but I will definitely be going back to try their other dishes. Their wine and cocktail menu are also very good and Wildlight really focuses on supporting local BC. I highly recommend this restaurant and thank you head Chef Warren Chow and the rest of the incredible staff for a great experience!
By far the best dining experience I’ve had in a LONG time. The staff were so personable and attentive. The food was beyond amazing and the atmosphere was inviting and comfortable. We had the pescatarian charcuterie board and the oyster motoyaki starters which were to DIE for! I don’t even like oysters and I ate 2 . Then I had the seared HOKKAIDO scallops with the lobster risotto which again was amazing. Other folks had the steak frites and the celeriac agnolotti which they also really enjoyed. Followed by the dessert platter was the perfect meal. Thank you Wildlight staff for an amazing experience. Dietary restrictions: Staff were very conscious of dietary restrictions and asking before serving anything.
My family and I visited Wildlight and had the BEST dine in experience!!! All the staff were professionals who were welcoming and attentive. We ordered the burger, steak frites and sablefish. The food was spectacular leaving me speechless. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion and would definitely be coming back!
Tried the wings for appetizer, steak and frites, seared scallop for entrees and they were excellent. All of the flavors were very well-balanced. The staff were really nice and we even got a chance to talk to the main chef himself. Chef Chow’s love and passion for food and excellence created a wonderful dining experience for us. Will definitely be back soon!
It’s located part of UBC very new development around that beautiful long cedar trees and open a space in front of it that probably they have some summer event in at the restaurant is very than you beautiful decoration nice lighting and big pot you that you can use all year long. The food was delicious we had brunch I highly recommend chicken and waffle food service was great. Overall I highly recommend to check it out.
My first experience with my friends was great. We went there for the happy hour. All the sides were $2 off and the portion was good. We loved Japanese fusion style food like oyster mushroom tempura and shishito peppers. The survive was great and they were very friendly. The restaurant setting is beautiful and the music wasn’t too loud so we could hear each other very well. Since we live close Acadia Park, we will definitely go back there especially for the happy hour!
