One of the best second had opportunity shops I have ever been to. It was huge with a massive range on goods all at cheap prices. Well done guys!!
As thrift stores go, it’s hit or miss if you’ll find something you want but Wildlife Thrift had quite a variety! Organized & items well labelled. Books, clothes, shoes, bags, household, instruments, small appliances & more. Profits go to several charities. Easy curbside dropoff of donations at side door.
Love the kind and helpful staff here, but it’s truly unfortunate to see second hand, mid-quality products priced almost at their new/retail price consistently.nnBrand-name dress priced at $300, leather jacket at $170 and mid-quality second-hand Zara pieces priced at $30 are hard to justify paying for.nnI would encourage the team to reflect on what thrift shop pricing should look like. Affordable pricing would set up guests to shop more frequently at the beloved Wildlife Thrift.nnI used to love this thrift shop and I would like to continue to thrift here, but I’m genuinely running out of reasons why I should come back..
I love Wildlife and have been going here for the past 10 years since I moved to the Mainland. I mostly buy clothes from here, however I have noticed that some of their homeware and furniture is bit pricey. But I'm always happy with the clothes I get from here. The staff is super friendly too. I do wish there was more room to sit in the changerooms though.nnSome people in the reviews have said their clothes are expensive but I haven't noticed that. Probably because I usually buy cheaper items like shirts and pants. I've found jeans here for like $10 and t-shirts for $5. I haven't checked the prices for things like shoes or jackets.nnWhenever I'm getting rid of clothes that don't fit me or that I don't wear anymore, I always donate to Wildlife. Unlike Value Village that just sells everything that's donated to them and doesn't give back to the community at all, I know for a fact that Wildlife has a partnership with Covenant House where their residents are given access to any donated clothes or other items. So when I donate something, it's nice to know it's actually going to people who need it.
I wasn’t aware that they are selling the donated pieces at this price level. And after reading the owner’s response, I honestly am aghast at the attitude.nnIf you think the location is unsafe and costs you extra money, please just move to another spot instead of staying here. After all, what’s the point of paying for security and the “prime location” when you can just move to cut costs and avoid all these difficulties you’re facing? You don’t move because this location, regardless of being expensive and unsafe, is benefiting you and your business. The location is chaotic but it’s also DT Vancouver, so it naturally attracts more clients. The location is also surrounded by a lot of high-end luxury apartment buildings, so you get a bunch of generous, high-quality donations. Then you sell those “inventories”you obtained for free at 70 dollars. This is why you aren’t moving despite ranting about how bad this place is. Don’t play the victim here. You’re making enough to cover all the extra expenses you’re bearing. You are spending absolutely nothing to get all the items you’re selling. You think other business owners don’t need to pay for the rent, employees’ salaries and benefits, normal depreciation, etc.? Let’s be honest, your fixed costs are not higher than the other owners, and I highly doubt the rent is high, considering the location itself you didn’t use the security concerns to negotiate the rent?as far as I know, most good properties in the middle of the chaos are way cheaper. You’re not moving because this place still benefits you.nnI’m just disappointed to realize the owner seems to be very ungrateful & disrespectful to their clients and the neighborhoods. I’d rather throw my clothes away than donate them here. And I regret my purchases here.
