If I’m going to this Salvation Army Thrift Store, it’s for anything but the clothes. Entire racks of synthetic blended filler, stretched out fast fashion garbage. Men’s section is about one third of what they carry for women, but rails are also quite packed, so there’s little incentive for me to sift through to find anything worthwhile. There’s a solid selection of glassware, porcelain and ceramic chinaware that’s nicely spaced and displayed, which for me is the highlight of this store. The library of books is, similar to other Salvation Army Thrift locations, not organised nor categorised, which is frustrating to look through, but it isn’t a big library. What’s kept behind display cases doesn’t look impressive enough to be kept behind locked glass; just trifle trinkets and baubles. Overall, a mediocre thrift store; of all the times I’ve visited, little has changed.
Probably the best thrift in the area. The prices are not marked up like I've seen in Kits locations and can usually find a gem or two. Extensive shoes and books sections but I find it's often kind of messy and some of the aisles are tight when it's busy especially right weekdays after school
Great place! The store is a small hidden store amongst the Kerrisdale district. It's literally on the edge of the areannThe selection of the clothing and products are abundant. There isn't a lot because the building is physically small, but the items are of great quality. This is totally different from value village.nnThe books and items can be very new. I even bought something from daiso that's unopened. The dresses and clothing actually look really good.nnThe staff are very nice too, and are all throughout the store, cleaning up or restocking. I can hear machinery in the backroom.nnWhat makes me come back is that all their proceeds go towards good places. Unlike value village, who keeps the profits, salvation army gives their earnings to other non profits like children's camps, shelters, food banks, churches, and to families in need.
Store is located in the core Kerrisdale business area. It is in proximity to residential areas of low rise apartments to large single family homes and therefore has a cross selection of merchandise from standard, to designer depends on donation volume. Donation drop off door is in the rear laneway. Metered street parking is available, as well as some residential street parking. #letsguide #covid
This Christmas, I slipped and fell on the ice on the street in front of the store. While I waited for the ambulance to come, which that night took about 90 minutes, the staff covered me with a sleeping bag and pieced together extension cords to place a heater beside me as I waited on the street . I will always be grateful to them, for that alone. But there is more.nnThis is possibly the coolest Salvation Army store in the country. I have been around. The staff has an eye for color, symmetry and beauty.nnThere are high quality items flowing through this store. The area that surrounds it is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the country. And to be truthful, the staff knows the value of what they obtain and sell. If you are looking for the best possible discount, you may want to look elsewhere. However, if you want consistently good quality add reasonably good prices, this is your place.nnIt's got a great vibe and it's a fun place to spend 20 minutes or more.
